Modern Vampire Gaming Update 5/10
« on: March 15, 2010, 06:50:33 AM »
Hello I'm embarking on a modern vampire conspiracy/secret war game. I'm in the very early stages at the present but I hope to post my progress here at a later date. Right now I'm collecting miniatures for the project. I'm planing on combining Dark Age Miniatures, Reaper Chronoscope, Foundry Street Violence, Hasselfree Adventurers and West Wind Road Kill & Gothic Horror miniatures together. Oh I'm also mixing in a few Reaper Dark Legends Vampires and Black Scorpion US Marines. My problem is, I don't know how well these figures will look on the table together. I have the Reaper figures and some Black Scorpion figures and I think they work ok. Could some one tell me how the Hasselfree look against the Street Violence and or the West Wind figures? How do the Dark Age figures look with these? Are they too tall?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

I can only answer on Heresy with certainty, and advise that they are quite 'naturally' proportioned. They'd fit well with Reaper and Black Scorpion I'd say.

As for Dark Age (and I'm assuming you mean the range of figures and game based on Brom's artwork), I think they might be a bit too big, but that it depends on the exact figure you're intending to use. I think they are scaled more like Privateer Press' models, and tend towards a more 'heroic' scale.

Hmm, I have a lot of the figures you mention and they will vary quite abit within ranges as well as across the board.

e.g. Foundry SV can be humongous beasts whilst others are fairly standard 28mm. Hasslefree tend to be at the smaller end of the ranges mentioned being highly anatomically correct.

Worth also throwing into the mix are some of the Copplestone and EM4 ex Grenadier Future Wars figures, Especially their men in black, bikers etc.

Black Scorpion tend to be at the larger end of the market.

You should also look at the RAFM Modern Day Heroes range which again are large but will have some nice characters for Vampires.

Worth checking out is the Occult Wars rule set and their Yahoo group which may answer some of your questions.

Yes the one's base on Brom's work like these;

So you think they're 32mm?

Having seen those above it is worth also trawling some of the Warmachine hordes figures as some of those can be useful as vampires etc.

They're tall (32mm) or are they chunky?

Yes the Copplestone figures are nice. I though the RAFM's are huge.

They are quite big but would fit in amongst Foundry and Black Scorpion miniatures quite well

My Black scorpion figures are millimeter taller or as tall as the Reaper figures thought a hair thinner.

Here are links to some of the reaper Miniatures I'm using;

Its an odd collection I know but I'm working on a war between  older and younger vampires and I want each group to have a different look.

I really like the idea quite a bit.  Sounds like it would be fun.

Hopefully this will help a bit, at least where Foundry, Hasslefree, and Reaper are concerned.

One thing you will run into is that the Reaper Chronoscope line is inconsistent in its scale, so look at the models first. For example, their Zulus are massive compared to anything else in the line that isn't in armor.

My dear Sir thank you ever so much for the comparison picture! I see that the Hasselfree adventures are indeed on the small side. So I'll stick to “teenage” types and the kids. Is that a RAMF modern adventurers figure there? I thought they were 32mm but it appears to be 29mm or so. That's good to know.

Yes that's true of all of reaper's stuff. Some of my Reaper pirates are true 28mm while my pirate queen is a monstrous 32mm!

It looks like Foundry has the same issues.
