Easy Rivet's??

I want to put rivets on an area that doesn't currently have them i can't push into it from the other side to make it look like them either.  So anyone got any ideas on what i could use instead??

I'd be interested to know actually.

Just wondering if dots of latex (with plenty of thickener) would do the treat? They'd have to be properly sealed though.

See i thought about glue but wondered if it would just run though..

I'm going to try to cocktail stick idea and see if that work's though i know its going to take me ages to do all the ones i want

It's probably stated in the mentioned post, but I use dabs of epoxy glue. It's viscous enough to hold it's shape and not run. And it's much faster than cutting pieces of plastic rod and then applying them.

Dabs also give me rounded rivets rather than flat. Just my preference.

What glue are using Schogun??  Just trying to work out something the same this side of the pond.

If you do go the slicing route roll out some very thin sausages of green stuff and let harden. You can slice it into discs with a scalpel very quickly and easily and then glue them on.

There is a thread somewhere where I did rivets with a thick craftglue dabbed straight on from the nozel.

I now use punched out plasticard mainly for its uniformity.

Regular two-part epoxy. I think I used 10-minute epoxy the last time. From a small amount, you can get a lot of rivets before it sets up too much, more than enough to do a complete side of a vehicle or whatever. I just dab into the epoxy with a toothpick, then dab where I want a rivet. Then you let it sit 10 minutes (under a lamp if desired for additional heat; I usually wait longer just in case), and you're ready to do another side.

You may want to do a test run first using an out-of-the-box sharp toothpick vs. snipping a tad off the tip to see what size rivet you'll get.

Cool i might have a look as to be honest it sounds a tad easier than cutting hundreds out of various materials

yeah Jed does some very nice stuff i do have a lot of it about.  But its the thought of cutting up 200+ rivets thats making me think of different ways to do it

Certainly a better idea than latex. I forgot the stuff peels off really easily.

Silly bugger I am.

Let's see how it all goes then. Might end up going for the dressmaker's pins approach.
