Looking for sci-fi fairies...(again)
« on: March 30, 2010, 07:17:03 PM »
Well after sending some time looking at it and then laying the project to the side again, I'm back wanting to do Artemis Fowl games, for which I need some seriously well equiped sci-fi fairies. Their typically 1m tall, so in 28mm, that's roughly 15mm, does anyone know of any good 15mm scifi minis that could be converted to jumpsuited sci fi fairies? Possibly could use some heads from 15mm GZG (though non of their minis seem 'light' enough to work)
Thanks,
Duncan

http://spielorjh.deviantart.com/gallery/#Faeries-With-Guns is what I've done - they're mostly Reaper figures.

Great stuff yet again Froggy (I'm amazed how you do it). As they are reaper, I'm guessing they're roughly 28mm tall or since they are fairies are they modeled smaller?

They're 28mm, but the same techniques apply to 15mm figures as well.

I obviously don't know what's going on here, but I have to jump in to point out my surprise at finding the words "sci-fi" and "fairies" together.  :o

Think "Fairy Meat" but with Shadowrun.

Ok, I think a description might be in order. Fairy society lives underground having fled from humanity above ground, so far they have managed to go undetected through use of a mixture of magic and suprisingly advanced technology. In any dealings with humanity the Lower Elements Police (LEP) have two major bodies - LEPrecon the stealth element and LEPretrival the 'elt's go bash them on the head' element.

Fairies is the collective term for elves, sprites, drawves, goblins, centaurs and trolls.

from the Artemis Fowl books. I know they are children's books, but they are seriously funny and well worth a read.

Its an age since I read any of these so I cannot recall the characters name. What are you going to use for the seriously hard butler?

For Butler (yeap, that his name) I think I'm going to use Hasslefree's Darby with a bald head:

I've not quite decided on which model to use as Artemis yet, but I'm thinking another from Hasslefree, this time Hasslefree's not-Artemis (Giles):

The human characters aren't so hard, it's the small fairies that are being problematic.

Not quite the size you are looking for, but what about.

About to hit the moulds for mastering. It's not 15mm in height, so the size will be off, but thought it fit your description of a sci fi faerie :)Sculpted by Andrew Rae of Khorosho Productions

EDIT: not sure what I have done wrong with posting the image here. It has been grabbed from Andrew's site. If you hit the blank spot, it will open a new page with the image though.

Yeap that's a really nice mini, but too tall. Ideally I'm looking for something 15-20mm tall.
