Good source for 25/28mm Southwestern Indians?
« on: March 31, 2010, 04:59:31 PM »
I'd like to make a Navajo Posse for LOTOW but so far have been unable to find any Southwestern tribe miniatures (outside of the 6 or so Apaches that Artizan carries). Can anyone point me to a source for minis that'll scale well with Artizan & Old Glory Cowboy Wars minis?

Well, an obvious source would be Wargames Foundry
Apache - http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/OW/10/index.asp
Cherokee/Delaware - http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/OW/6/index.asp.
I have a few Apache and they scale up pretty well
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

They're one of the great 'lost' figure lines - much looked for, never arriving! Such a shame, I'd buy them in a trice. My paint desk currently has a pile of Conquest stuff on it, and they're such great sculpts, a joy to paint.

Couldnt agree more, I really want mounted Commanche, so much that I am planning them for a Boot Hill Miniatures future release(Not until 2011 Though, so don't get excited yet) :)

Ooh goodie, I in a moment of madness have picked up another 30 mounted foundry Plains, going for a song 9or thats what the missus has been told), my additional Dixon shields have turned up so I think a few Indian will be on the table soon, if notihgn else to reduce the lead pile and guilt ;D

Couldn't resist, broke down and bought 2 packs of Comanche warriors since they looked vaguely "Navajo-ish". Hopefully they scale well with the Artizan and OG stuff i have as they look really nice.

Are they the Conquest figures, presumably on foot, not mounted?

Apologies for partially hijacking this thread, but are there any more primitively armed Apaches than Foundry's out there?

I have plenty of Foundry, but most have weapons that are too modern for the first half of the 19thC. I'll use them at a pinch, but I'd rather they had more bows or smoothbore muskets etc

Some of the Dixon's range of Apaches are armed with bows and spears.

Thanks - I didn't realise they do Apache figures.

I'm normally not a massive fan of Dixon, but I'll have a look at their Apaches and see how they would look alongside Foundry.

So long as there are no pumpkin heads I'd be interested in getting some. I suppose I could always see if some of the Winchester armed Foundry figures could be given flintlocks instead.

Hi,

I'm mostly a lurker, but just wanted to let you know that if you give Eric from Conquest a call, or see him at a convention, he'll likely sell you the mounted Comanche.  The figs didn't fit on the horses properly and he didn't want to sell bad product, but about 1 1/2 years ago I contacted him and told him I didn't care about the horse issue, that I had plentry of extra ones from several many different manufacturers, and could use them if I didn't like his.  So I got the whole lot of the mounted Comanche...Nice!

Might be worth looking at. OG are are a bit too variable in quality to buy unseen, but at those prices they may be worth using as a basis for conversions.
