I sanded the main land and polyed the beach. I think filler is the best way to depict really fine grain sand.

Still no clue on the water. I'm thinking that perhaps I can you some less diluted filler and sculpt some wavish movement into it. and then just plot the crashed viking ship parts into it.

Now I also found the perfect model for the Skithögen Viking ship:

I think I finally settled on how to do the rules. And actually I owe it all to BLAM. There I was in Overlord's jungle game and Kapitan Bluts & Totillaboy's Colonial skirmish. And I just thought of amalgating the two different games into one.

So I'll be using a regular card deck to handle combat, activate by another deck and have a furry viking helmet of death to pick damage tokens from.

Fantastic. Way easier than I had expected!

What makes you think you could be pres... oh. Right... Well, my vote you've got! ;)

To the win, ahm, thread: It just keeps getting more awesome, if that is possible. :D

I tried to convince my university's history professor regarding the insights into Viking and Roman and Owlbear societies, but he denies such things. I am now certain he is one of them! ;)
Significant.

It was a wonderful September day and the Lilliputians were getting ready for the Harvest feast.'

Unfortunately from out of nowhere a band of merry and relentless Vikings stormed them and slaughtered them, ate their women and stole their gold.. and peed in their harvest!

Hehe thanks, but it's 10mm actually. I think that 15mm is just a tad too large.

Hahaha, thats brilliant :)

Looking forward to playtesting it this weekend. And to see you play it in a month  lol

I finally found a church I think is usable. It's not a great model, and it's had several layers of paint over the years, but I'm going to try my luck. I haven't got the faintest clue what part of the world or which era it is from. I guess I tend to go about this a bit happy-go-lucky.  lol

In the scenario with the sheep the church will be situated in the corner like this:

With any look I'll find some more stone wall to add to the display.

With the help of a paint roll and some Franz Lizst i managed to get the first lick of paint on the board.

Still no clue about the water... haha. But eventually. My hopes are that when the Skithögen model arrives I will have a revelation.

Looking really, really good! It's all coming together very quickly, and any game that gives out damage tokens in that way is destined to be a good, fun and enjoyable game.

I always enjoy the Lost World game with Paul and co.

I always enjoy the Lost World game with Paul and co.

This is what I imagine I will do:

Each player controls 2 vikings (or 3 if there are too few players):

Activation:
Each group is activated by cards - and there's a Mjöd Break card in the deck (like Overlord's joker or the Tea Break in IABSM) after the draw of which the deck is reshuffled and a new turn starts.

Movement:
Each player gets a red stick and a black stick. One is shorter than the other. None of the sticks are the same lenght. When you move you turn a card - a red card means you use the red stick.. a black well go figure. A joker means a topple.

Combat:
Defender cuts a card deck. The attacker then cuts and before cutting declares whether he will go higher or lower than the defender's cut. If he predicts the outcome correctly he has scored a hit and draws a token from the list below. Otherwise he is toppled by the defender.

If the defender is defending an obstacle he may adjust 2 up or down, stacking with any other modifiers he may have.

Certain minis are allowed to adjust their cut and have specific rules:

Vikings: May adjust 2 up or down
Owlbears: May adjust 3 up or down
Sheep/Lilliputians: Cannot make "head cut off"/"arm cut off" and must redraw if they draw such a token when doing damage.
Romans: May adjust 1 and if they have a throwing spear may throw it red or black. Cut to see if they hit needing a picture card to hit.

Damage Token Table:
Damage          Viking                 Other
Arm cut offno effectno adjust
Leg cut offno effectmove halved
Head cut offdeaddead
Both arms offno adjustdead
Both legs offmove halveddead
1 Gut woundno effectdead
3 Gut wounddeaddead
Near missno effectno effect

Any other thinkable action can be attempted by cutting higher than the Games Master.

Cannot really take credit for any of it though as it is mainly just an amalgation of Overlord's and Malamute & Blood's.
