NW Frontier British Outpost
« on: November 29, 2015, 12:46:09 PM »
Here's my newly painted British outpost for my NW Frontier games. It's a actually the French Foreign legion desert fort that is, I think, by Unfeasibly. I got it from Colonel Bill's at the Hereward Wargame Show in peterborough on 1st November. I hope to give it its first gaming outing at the club tomorrow.

It's a cool piece of kit and will probably also see action in the Sudan when we get our Egyptian and Dervish forces painted up...

Looks the perfect little outpost for Harry's Feversham and Flashman to win their VCs!

Great! Very Inspirational.

Is the design based on any real buildings?

It's meant to be a North African French fort. I don't know if any particular one was meant to be represented.

I was interested in a smaller version of Chakdara fort from the NW Frontier which was besieged in the 1897 Pathan revolt. I suspect this pic was taken in the 1920s given the aircraft, but you get the idea...

Here's another - Khurram Ghari fort. This one really resembles the model...

In my games it'll be a small fort/fortified signalling station. I want to buy a sandbag emplacement to place on the roof in which to shelter a Maxim gun... :D

Very nice model, love the angularity.  If I may, one jarring note is the reddishness of the exposed brick - just seems too strong a contrast to my eye but easily toned down, perhaps a dusty brown wash.  Or not, your toy.

Making sure the sun never set on the British Empire - great looking little outpost though I would not want to be posted there.

Saw this on your blog yesterday and it looks great Andy  :-* :-* :-*

I keep meaning to buy one myself but keep forgetting to buy it at shows! Battleground on Saturday gone was the last show of the season for me so it's mail order or wait until Vappa :)

The model is based on the French Foreign fort of Bou-Denib

The scene of a famous stand-off between a handful of legionnaires and thousands of Tuaregs, similar in many ways to Rorke's Drift...

The fort is available from Mike at BlackHat or from Stu / Colonel Bills at shows

Kind Regards
