Pulp Superman and Batman

I like the pulp genre a lot.  I was thinking about mixing it with some other 1930's characters.  Has anyone tried a golden age Batman and a scaled down 1930's Superman?  I know Heroclix has a golden age version of each to modify.  I thought it would be an interesting mix with the 30's gangsters.

Batman would fit in nicely for some rockem-sockem action and you could have fun making some rules for his gadgets.  You'd have to get creative with the scenarios to keep Superman's powers from unbalancing the game.  Maybe use him as a set piece instead of as a player character, i.e. fight through some henchman and save superman from the kryptonite laser cutter so he can stop the rocket from destroying the city.  I think Reaper has a superhero in a cape that could be painted up as the big guy.

Going with Golden Age Superman, you pretty much just have a brick.  Small arms fire didn't bother him much, bigger stuff did.  I know the early version of him didn't fly, he jumped.  I'm not sure if he had x-ray vision or super speed.

Gotta go with P_Clapham, the golden age Supes is a lot more reasonable than he is portrayed later on.

Green Lantern is another interesting character as he really looks the period in his golden age outfit with cape.

I wonder if Heroclix does the golden age figs?

They did a set called origins - Superman looks good with the old symbol and less muscular physique.  The Green lantern mini is the right costume but a terrible sculpt.  The Batman is a cop out, he has the newer mask with the pointy ears on top.  I think I would prefer the orignal costume.

Found a good picture of Wonder woman and Green Lantern.  Batman and Superman are on the small side unfortunately.

Was there a Golden Age Sandman mini too? The old Sandman Mystery Theatre is full of pulpy goodness.

There was a Sandman in Origins as well.  He was a Unique then which is now considered super rare.  He more or less looked like the Golden Age Sandman.

That Batman, also from Origins, should be easy to get.  He was one of the pieces inluded in the Batman: Alpha realease.  I can't recall if he was one of the four Batmen that were on the top of each booster or not.  Either way, Alpha is pretty cheap these days and he is also in that set.  He was also the Free Comic Book Day figure a few years ago.

The Wonder Woman is going to be hard to find I think.  She was the prize support for one of the New Guy Night promotions a long time ago.

There is a Reaper miniature that makes a good generic pulp super hero (spandex suit, pants, belt, boots and cape)

Wow there are quite a few.  It's too bad about the bad sculpting from the Heroclix.  It's funny how Captain AMerica always pops up in these threads but never any of the other superheroes.  I just wish they would make an original Batman min.

Thing is, if you can strip the factory paint off of them, they have some nice detail. It's just so heavily painted that it covers it up.
