The other day I went to the pet store and picked up a number of plants for my jungle terrain project. After spending $12 and then another $10 at the hobby shop I whipped these jungle foliage bases together:

The only question I have is whether or not you guys think I should paint the trees. The pic on the bottom is painted, the others are not. I like the unpainted ones, but they do kinda look like the kids toys that they are. What do you guys think?

Oh yes, for whosever sake, please paint the trees. They are just too "plasticky". I´d suggest drybrushing and then washing the trunks, and paint the upper surfaces of the leaves a darker green, maybe just a wash.

Greetings.
Yep, please paint them.
The "green" is very much plastic and doesn't look very natural. Normally I would spray paint them and eventually brush some highlights. The wooden part of the palms would need a new coat as well .. but not nearly that much than the leafes.

You don't really need to PAINT'm: wash dark brown & highlight the colors, then matt varnish: this gives a nice result with little work.

A quick wash, maybe a bit of a dry brush and as Rudis says the varnish should do the rest. To hide the joint at the top perhaps some cocomuts etc?

shiny is good as the plants are quite leathery in real life and dew etc would produce a sheen for the eye :D

If I may ask a noobie question, what was used for the bases and how were the trees held in place?

Thanks
