I decided to go of the beaten path for this challenge and do some fantasy Inuit. I figure that these would work for Cthulhu type games as well. Paint to come soon. Maybe tonight if I get around to it.

full explanation on my blog.

What a great idea... :)
You must add an icerear as a were creature... :D

I like the setting: igloos, huskies, broke ice, piguines...

I want to see them painted...

Thanks for the inspiration.

Intriguing stuff - I always liked the ice barbarians in Joe Dever's Caverns of Kalte - kind of reminds me of them.  :D

Those are great! Wonderful "icy" blues.

And love the "ice-ice-baby" tag for your blog.

Very nice work, your Excellency.  And fantasy Inuit is such an untapped theme.
Back from the dead, almost.

Cool  ;) :D stuff!

These chaps would make a great opponent for Thorbjørn Nielsen's vikings!

The garden party is really good and a novel idea for a warband too.

The inuit are great: as has already been said, fantasy inuit is largely an untapped vein.

Great ideas :)

I love that garden party warband, Scott. That will make a great encounter in an RPG! I'm really digging how this challenge has motivated everyone to experiment with unorthodox fantasy themes.

You know I have been thinking about this challenge and I realized I don’t have all that much of a lead pile. I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad about it. Sure I have some plastics lying around, but building an elven warband out of a GW wood elf box is hardly original is it now.

I guess I need to buy more cool miniatures even if I don’t have a use for it then.

Well, YPU, you are still a bit young by hobby standards, only being 20. I think by the time you reach my age, you'll have more stuff in your unpainted bins.

For example, I've had those Chronopia goblins for at least 10 years! I guess what I am saying is that the big backlogs come with accumulated years of collecting. For most people, anyway.

He, I guess that’s right. I keep forgetting I’m talking to old sods here.  :D ;)

And Its not like I have had all that much funds available for wargaming for now, any money spend on minies stays there forever. (or one should hope so)

I realy like the way this thread had developed. Very inspiring to me. I like the Inuit and the garden-gang is realy cool... :)
I will cahnge the thread-titel to "Backlog-competion"... ;)

Here is my latest gang. The Undead, not as inspired as the latest warbands in this thread but its good for me to see these minis painted...

The citadel-skeletons are out of the deepest tunnels from under Mount Lead. I gave a friend 150 German Marks back in the early 90s when there was no internet (beside CERN) who traveled to england and told him to buy me some miniatures...

Okay, here is the gang.

Here are the stats for the undead warband...
________________________________________
Skeleton-Champ, Points:52; Quality:3; Combat:4; Heavy Armor, Undead
________________________________________
2xSkeleton-Bow; Points:34; Quality:3; Combat:2; Shooter: Medium, Undead
________________________________________
Skeleton; Points:36; Quality:3; Combat:3; Undead
________________________________________
Dwarven Zombie; Points:15; Quality:4; Combat:2; Short Move, Undead
________________________________________
Orc-Skeleton; Points:35; Quality:4; Combat:4; Undead
________________________________________
Wraith; Points:56; Quality:3; Combat:3; Free Disengage, Shooter: Long, Undead

Keep the competition going... :)

Wow. A blast from the past! I like the band, especially the cohesive colour scheme.
