Cult of Skaro Daleks
« on: June 03, 2007, 05:03:25 PM »
Just painted up a few Daleks using the "New" Colour scheme.
I'll be using these guys as the "Cult of Skaro".

I haven't decided what to do with the bases yet and so have left them plain black.

Very nice.
Perhaps you could paint the bases with an electric blue/whte glow so they look like they're just hovering.

Purty. Don't forget though, one of them (at least in season 28) was a bit more "burnished gold" than bronze.

Did some cult or Skaro last year but I can't find inspiration for the others - with just the cult left (trying not to spoil it for any not watching season 29) I feel like there's no reason to paint the rest!

Pappa, Thats just how I intend to paint mine when they arrive from Black Tree. :)
I like the brongze/gold style. It will fit in with my Victorian themed game.
NIce painting jobs as well by the way :)

Thanks for the comments :)

Matakishi: I think you over-estimate my painting ability. I think if I tried that they'd look like they were stood in a puddle!

pnweerar: Good point about the colour. They are a little lighter in real life but I quite liked the result. I intend painting my other Daleks in "Traditional" colours as a bodyguard for Davros!

Malamute:They do look a little "steam Punk" with the Bronze and gold and would fit in rather well in a Victorian setting..............

"Errr....Quite so!"

Davros' bodyguard ought to be in Imperial Dalek colours, rather than 'traditional' ones. Unless you're doing "Genesis," that is.

I was going to do his bodyguard in the "Cream" Imperial scheme and the rest of my Daleks in other colours for some Dalek V's Dalek battling! :)

Cool. Apart from my engineer, who is for some reason Imperial, all the rest of mine are in a traditional grey or metallic.

I've got a few more to do, but I can't decide between Imperial or the new gold sort. I like both colour schemes a lot. I think I may have to just buy a few more so I can do both.

Glad it's not just me then! I started with the four from the box set but they appear to have multiplied ( I've now got 16 and a heavy weapons Dalek!)

I have not watched Who yet and I already want to paint some up.  Something about the salt shakers just is very appealing!  Resistance is crumbling....

Fantastic job PM.

Grimm, you have a great deal of choice. :)
The first Dr who was broadcast in the 1960s and carried on through until the late 1980's possibly early 1990's. I can't quite remember when!
So far 10 different actors and the Daleks have appeared at regular intervals over the last 40 years.
You could start by watching the recent series and perhaps try the episodes with Christopher Ecclestone and Billy Piper. The introduction of the Daleks in their series was in my opinion pretty good.
I do not class myself as a Dr Who expert and am not a purist on which are the best series and which are not. Everybody has their own favourite Dr largely based around when they were young and who was playing the role at the time. I grew up with Jon Pertwee (3rd Dr) so he is my favourite and I quite like the two recent ones, Ecclestone and David Tenant.
I know the recent series are available on DVD and they are also broadcast on BB4 on Digital TV, you maybe able to access them on Sky or cable?
 :)

Grimm -
If that choice wasn't bad enough there are also a couple of movie versions too, both feature Daleks, starring Peter Cushing.
The earlier Daleks are easier to beat (so more gameable) but are obviously limited by the special effects available at the time of filming.
The more recent ones are damn nearly unstoppable.

David Tennant (latest Doctor) is a good actor, and his latest assistant is quite attractive, not that that influences any of our viewing habits.
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

My Black Tree Design order arrived yesterday :)
One 3rd Dr, one Harry Sullivan, one Prof Kettlewell, one Davros and six Daleks. :D
Now having checked out the figures and read this thread again I need more Daleks
So I'm off to order another six of them.

You can never have enough Daleks! :)

My order arrived yesterday consisting of a load of cybermen and two Starter box sets ( at that price it's an easy way of building up Dalek and Unit forces), one box for me and one for Fritzy.
Unfortunaley both rule books had some unsightly scribble on them.........Both Autographed by TOM BAKER! What a shame!!!!
