Some Mutants & Death Ray Guns stuff...
« on: April 14, 2010, 09:58:03 PM »
Bought some minis from EM4 a while ago to play a little Mutants & Death Ray Guns. Got three of the pre-painted kits and a few bare metal guys, just to get started playing quickly.

Here's the first mini I painted for our initial warbands. Not exactly noticable, but it's actually an android. The setting is not-so-serious (hence the bulls eye) post apoc stuff, set in southern Sweden. We're basing it on an old Swedish RPG from the 80s, which was basically a rip-off of Gamma World.

Especially pleased with how the eyes turned out, but that's hardly visible in the photo. Neither is his gun, but I can assure you there's a pistol in his right hand.

Currently working on a female member of the same warband.

The paint job looks good, nice and neat.

Do you plan to paint some more androids or will you use the random warband generation rules (which means that you could end up with anything from humans to catmen to talking rose bushes that can shoot thorns)?

I have played MDRG a few times and while I enjoyed playing it, I found that the warband generation was a bit irritating.  I have a couple of BatReps on my blog.

Apparently there is a "proper" points system for MDRG due out in the next issue of Free Hack, but that has been coming "any day now" for a year or so.  I think that MDRG will get played a lot more once there is a more structured way to select figures for warbands.

Anyway, post some more photos of your MDRG guys when you get them painted please.  That guy looks great.

Thanks cheet! Actually haven't got the rules yet, have been dawdling with the purchase... but the random generation is what is pulling us in. Horses for courses, apparently. =)
