Any 15mm early aviation and british piliceman?
« on: April 18, 2010, 05:05:41 AM »
I have 2 qusrtions:
1) Is there are any 15mm british policemans availible, or do I need to make a conversions?

2) Is there are any early aircrafts in 15mm scale for VSF. Something like Wright plane, Blakan Wars planes and Early WW1 planes:

Irregular might have some.  I think they made packs for the Riot rules in 6mm, 15mm and 20mm.
Back from the dead, almost.

You could convert some colonial brits, it is VSF after-all.

You're right, it is.  Sorry, I was thinking of your photo which shows the uniform introduced in the 1960s (or possibly 1950s - I know they were in use by the time of Carry On Constable ... ).

With a little bit of luck, you'll might find a 1903 Wright Flyer in 1/100 done by Dahlmann. They pop up on E(vil)bay Germany occasionally for a reasonable price (around € 7,00). I would steer clear form the original ones made by Faller, as these fetch higher prices because of the kit-collectors.
Dahlmann bought some of the old 1950/1960 Faller moulds. This means that these kits are rather on the crude side of detail.
IIRC there are even generously moulded-on eyes for the rigging  :o. And there might be some ejector-pin marks as well.

And if you like kit-bashing, there's no way in stopping you converting Revells 1/72 D.H.2 for your VSF needs. Should make for a nice large bomber methinks... ;)

Glencoe used to sell a twin-pack - again a Wright Flyer (1/109), together with The Spirit of St. Louis (1/115). But I am not sure about the availability of this kit.  ???

There's even a diecast model of the Wright Flyer:
http://www.skygeek.com/11112.html
They state that it has a wingspan of 5", which should be o.k. for 15mm VSF.

Hope that helps. (I'm searching for this kind of kits as well - for my 15mm Quar...)
