Hi Guys,

I painted these wonderful chaps over the weekend designed by Dave Howitt.

Sorry for the photography.

Best wishes,

Helen,

Great job!!!  I wish I was down under enjoying the sun.  :)

Great work! I'm happy to say that the Britannia style works nicely for those figures.

Very nice.

I'm thinking of getting some of the Inkerman Malaya figures but I'm still not sure what I'd do with them and whether I can tackle the terrain side of things with any success.

Large pet store, plastic aquarium plants, stick on to unwanted freebie CDs. Slap on a bit of brown paint and static grass. Sorted  ;)

Thank you guys for your kind words.

I agree with GM you need a load of plastic plants to make enough decent terrain for the conflict.

Blogger thanks for the praise on my blog. Dave is designing a load of buildings for the range in addition to  more miniatures.

I managed to get Dave "The Malayan Emergency Revisited" after I'd received my copy from Malaysia as this book is the holy grail of books for the conflict. Needless to say that Dave has now more ideas for the conflict to design in miniature.

Will have the next 10 CTs in photos very soon.

Cheers,

Helen

Yep, that would work a treat for Vietnam or some such.

However, the Malayan jungle was a bit more involved, with several layers and very few tracks. It was also virtually sunless and had to be hacked through one foot at a time.

A bit tricky to model and to run a game through, unless I work out some clever way to make modular terrain bases with removable trees.

Or somehting along those lines.

I'm thinking a small table area (3' x 3'?) with modular terrain bits that can be swapped around to represent jungle, rubber plantations, streams, villages and camps.

It's a lot of work but it would look good if I pulled it off.
