D M Cornish Books - anyone gaming them?
« on: June 24, 2015, 06:33:23 AM »
I wondered if anyone else was thinking about gaming the fascinating world created by D M Cornish in his books such as "Lamplighter" as they really would lend themselves to some interesting games? They are set in an alternative 18th century world  with gunpowder and fascinating creatures. Whats not to like?

Never heard of it before, but a quick google and wiki this morning looks intriguing ,some of the clothing reminds me  Of when I was watching the turn series on Amazon tv.

The D M Cornish books are incredibly detailed and very well illustrated with rather lovely black and white drawings. The background information from the books and in the accompanying  appendices give plenty of ideas for Monster hunting.

There are one or two folks out there trying to game it, if I remember correctly.

I have toyed with the idea for several years and started to gather some miniatures etc but have gone no further :(
I love the setting and the books and think it is ripe for gaming. Mr Cornish is an avid roleplayer and has commented on a couple of relevant blogs. It is one of those situations where I am completely absorbed and enthusiastic about it but no one at my club has heard of it!
I highly recommend reading the books!!

What's everyone's take on this?
AWI torso with headswap?
Was one idea I came up with.

For my take on Half Continent troops, I went with WSS miniatures from Ebor:
