A little help needed (looking for kits)
« on: April 21, 2010, 03:51:57 PM »
Are there any manufacturers  producing kits of either the German Sturmmorser Tiger or British A-39 'tortoise' heavy assault tank?

Ideally I'm looking for a 1/35 or even 1/48 scale kit, detail isnt that much of an issue.

An even wilder want is for the karl-Gerat 040 SPG but I doubt I would see one of those.

I just saw a 1/48 scale Sturmtiger on Ebay Germany...http://shop.ebay.de/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=sturmtiger+1%2F48&_sacat=See-All-Categories

The 1/48th-scale AFV Club Sturmtiger Michi posted looks like a good kit (I haven't built one, but saw the parts once IRL, and they looked very good). I've got their German halftrack kit (unbuilt), and that is marvellous with tons of detail and lots and lots of extra parts.

As for the Mörser Karl (self-propelled), Trumpeter make both the actual gun vehicle and the PzIV-based ammunition carrier in 1/35th scale. I remember reading reviews of this and the Dragon model, and the Trumpeter kit usually was described as the better choice. Cost is ~60 Euros for the Mörser Karl, ~40 Euros for the ammo carrier, depending on where you get it.

The Mörser Karl, however, is a very complex kit - the railway carriage version allegedly has more than 1000 parts. I *think* I saw the kit at my local Modelzone store, but might be mistaking it for another of Trumpeter's large box kits (their E-100 is particularly tempting to me).

Fairly sure this is 1/35th

Ebay seller´s description and printing on the box says 1/48...

Thanks for the swift responses.

AFV! My brain had a little block trying to think of companies who produce kits, thought they may have something.  :)

@Westfalia Chris; I don't think I want the hassle of 1000+ part kit! (but if the model looked good enough.........................)

I'm looking for German Armoured cars as well, but think I have them covered.

I could offer a Pz IV,V and VI each, if you´re interested. Two Shermans and a M3 as well -  all in 1/48 unbuilt Bandai kits.

Thanks for the offer but I have just tapped out my luxury budget for the month and really need to keep my eyes on the bigger tank prize!  :-* :D

They´ll rest in the layback until somebody calls for them. Just ask when you have collected some stash...
