Iron Man 2 (No Spoilers)
« on: April 29, 2010, 05:43:09 AM »
Just got back from seeing it and I'd have to say it's a damned fine sequel.

More Rhodey, more Fury, more Shield, more Iron-tech armour, more action.

The best part? Iron Man and Warmachine kick heads.

Worst part? Stan Lee cameo brief and disappointing.

I'm seeing it again in IMAX on Sunday.

Oh yeah, stick around until the end of the credits.  :o

Seems odd that Australia of all places would get the film before anyone else. Usually we have to wait for ages after everyone else has already seen it.

Saw it in IMAX last night. Have to say it's not worth the extra $5, the action scenes don't work on a screen that big. Black Widow especially fights too fast to see when she's nine stories tall.

It was out earlier in the UK too but I didn't see it till tonight.

I thought it was great aswell, my friend was less convinced, he still thought it was good just not as impressive as the first. I assume cause the first had the big red/gold suit reveal that is something no sequel will really match, though there were a few moments which came close.

The action was brilliant, but to be honest I wanted to see it mostly for RDJ's Stark and I wasn't at all let down, they even expanded on Tony's fallibilities a bit more, he is really making the character his own and long may that continue.
 :)

Rather makes me want to pick up either some toys/collectables to repaint or some not-Iron Man models like Hasslefrees, do a little scifi/modern narrative skirmish.

I have two repainted Heroclix Iron Men, I'd like more, but I just can't seem to lay my hands on Warmachine or the MK I suit.

The MK I suit is pretty tough to come across.  The Marvel 'Handful of Heroes' had a Iron Man in the MK I suit, a bit bigger than the 'clix version, but given he's in a armored suit I see that as less of an issue.

Found a Set poster too!  The Image is huge, so here's a link to it.  The MK I is in the second row from the top.

Looks ok, but I might try my luck scratch-building a movie style MK I.

Probably because of AC/DC.  :?

Could you PM me what you've seen... The movie theatre where I go open the lights and start cleaning the place as soon as the end credits start rolling... I don't know why they do it. It's annoying because quite a few movies have some kind of additional small scenes at the end... >:(

Hi guys,

I know I will sound like the grumpy old man, but this movie was  a HUGE disappointment to me!
 :(

The action was too blurry and shaky , I was barely able to get it.
The dialogs were most of the time too hectic, everybody was talking at the same time and mostly of childish niveau (the scenes between Tony and Pepper came to mind!).
Whiplash was OK, but Hammer was like Tom Cruise on drugs, YAK!

RDJ was good, but half of the movie he has to play the real jerk (understandable from the plot – but still annoying!).

All in all IMO a wasted opportunity – similar to Bonds Casino Royal (a REAL re-launch) and the horrible “Quantum of whatever”!

Even the scene after the VERY long credits was luke warm to me. If you follow the Marvel movie announcements  carefully and all the Avengers talk in IM1, Hulk2 it was not that surprising, or?
BTW: Did everyone notice the look of the shield in construction that Tony used to raise the machine for the new element…
 ;)
cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

I wasnt expecting the movie to be great.  The first movie ranks as one of my favourite super hero movies ever (probably my #1 really) and so I figured that lightning would have to strike twice for the sequel to be great.

Its a pretty good superhero movie, if a bit uninspired.  Its roughly about as good as either of the FF movies in my opinion.

Without spoilers, there are a couple of big plot holes and a few questionable choices of direction but overall its ok.  Like I said, if the first Iron Man movie hadnt been absolutely top drawer then I think that the sequel would have "seemed" better.

I enjoyed Sam Rockwell actually (I dont think that I have ever seen him play a role that I didnt like) but many of the scenes that he was in are the reason why the movie isnt that good.  I dont think that he was the cause of some of the movies problems, more that he was a symptom of them.

I didnt hate it or anything, but like you say, not that big a deal really.
