Front Rank have mounted Trumpeter, Kettle Drummer and Drummer for some of the period they cover (WSS & SYW)
Foundry have SYW (Prussian) Band figures
Eureka have 18th Century Musicians coming up
Foundry have (or had?) a few Tête de Colonne French Napoleonic figures
Dixon have ACW Band figures
Black Cat Bases have 1920’s Jazz Band

And, as argsilverson pointed out, there’s always "Toy Soldiers" manufacturers that offers musicians/Band figures.

As a side note, I like to count mounted figures and their horses as two figures… after all I got two figures to paint and the manufacturers charge me for two figures too! ;)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Copplestone does a Band on the Run and Chronoscope does a couple musicians as well (both modern types though - punk/rock), more of a future wars theme but could work

I suppose that now you put a sensible grown up head on to it there are options.
I was just thinking with my wee boy brain.. OOOhh naked ladies ;D ;D ;D
 lol

 lol lol lol

Maybe when I originally suggested nudes perhaps I should have written fully or predominantly nude so that it clearly embraces more than just the ladies* (says the chappy who paints a lot of bare-chested Native Americans!)

 ;) :)

Didn't we just do this in the Conan round?

Some suggestions from me:

Artillery crew - with or without gun, foot or horsed, mortar crews, rocket teams and so on.

HQ group - officers with staff, command group, leader with bodyguard, native king with veteran warriors.

Civilian bystanders - medieval peasants, victorian gents and ladies, modern passers-by.

The Fellowship of the Ring - or at least parts of. Yes, I know the fellowship consists of 9 characters, but it would be really nice to see what people will create here. There are many commercial sets and ready made "fellowships" available, but possibilities to create your own from generic miniatures would be endless and, at least for me, very interesting.

I find the "Fellowship of  the Ring" to be somehow restrictive… But maybe I just don’t see it like you do.

The other 3 suggestions are really good though. It would be really fun/interesting to see them as bonus rounds in the next LPLs.

How about a `little gems` bonus round, made up of 15mm or smaller scale models?

A more general Lord of the Rings theme would probably be a better choice, as limiting the category to just the Fellowship would probably be too narrow.

Even a larger LOTR category is too restrictive.  I would like the powers-that-be to choose categories that can be interpreted across genres.  Helen's earlier defending-the-flag category, for example, can be applied to almost any interest, genre, era, etc.  I do not like fantasy, and would hope that no bonus round would restrict me to fantasy.

I don't fancy the LOTR idea. I have no use for the figures in a game. Which is one of the reasons I do the LPL.

I thought LOTR would be alright as I assume that a lot of people use some of the current plastic GW LOTR range for historical armies (Rohirrim, Easterlings, Haradrim, Corsairs of Umbar, etc.) and there's a lot of room for other non-fantasy historical figures in various out-of-the-way corners of middle earth. Lots of middle ages-type figures would work as Breelanders, Woodsmen, Laketowners, Men of Dale, etc.

Doing LotR that  way would mean that some may have the same problem as the Conan theme in the last LPL. You need to know the story to be able to use historical figures as "props" for Tolkien’s universe… :?

I have no use for my Conan minis but I still enjoyed painting that entry.
