Nice work. Really starting to come together.
What are you going to use for the windows, glass or just left open?

Splendid, Rich. I 've been wanting to do something like this for some time now.

I am actually going to make it so I can slide in a faux glass or take it out to represent a shattered window.

Coming along very, very nicely. I like the layout of having a double-height gallery down the centre of the building - very typical of older museum buildings from what I've seen.

Put a big dino skeleton in the double-height part!

That's neat, Richard. I especially like the multi function fronts you are planning, clever!

I doubt whatever I complete will be half as good as what yours is, but that is high praise from you.

Thank you!

That looks terrific!

I'm interested in the PVC sheet. Would it warp if you stuck something on it? Like, textured wallpaper or something?

How does it go compared with cork?

For such a big structure it looks like its very steady!

This is a great project.

Sorry for the delay between postings. I had to take some time away from the museum to get ANZACs started for another game.

Anyway, still more detailing going on. All the windows on the lower level have been framed. All the ledges are in place between the two levels. There is even some paint on the center piece as a test of color. The buildings is going to be a sandstone type color, so it will be beige. This is the base coat before highlights to lighten it a bit more.

If you didn't know the scale, I put two of the 28mm Hybrids next to it to show the size.

I'll have to get a close shot, but I also painted the statue out front.. It's a marble base and a bronze statue. There is some tarnish on the statue already.

Also, I finished the two interior walls for the lower level. These are two large galleries for the Dinosaur exhibit and the Hall of Animals. Now, for the Hall of Animals I decided that there would be some relief sculptures on the wall near the ceiling. To do them, I found these scrapbooking animals that are flat on the back. All I had to do was glue them down.

I'll paint the wall color right over them and they will look like part of it. Just a little touch to make it interesting.

Wow I love it!  Where did you get the base relief animals for along the ceiling?  That is a great touch! :-*

The animals came from a craft store (Michael's) in their scrapbook or beading section. Not sure which.

For the first time in about a week and a half, the weather was great for using some spray paint outdoors. So, I took some of the completed sections of the building and primed them with white, then hit them with the tan spray paint. This is just the base coat and there will be more paint work done, but it starts to look a bit better with the color on it.

The lower walls are all held on with magnets in corner posts, but the two sections for the 2nd floor will be single piece (like a shoebox shape). This will allow me to take them off easily for getting to the lower floor.

I also put two hedges out front. I think they will help break up the lack of color in the walls. I'll add some sort of "planter" that they will be in as well.

Other than the roof, the only things left are cutting the windows in the second section, adding some detail bits, the stairwell and painting. Not bad and I just might finish on time. :)

Here is a close up of the statue. It was done with bronze, black wash and then drybrushed bronze again. I then added some tarnish in the shape of two shades of green. I tried to do it in the areas that were on top and spots were it would possibly run down. This is still the early stages of the tarnishing so the bronze still shows through.

Finally, a shot of the Hall of Animals wall with the base coat of paint over the animals.

Looking great Richard. :-* :-*
The statue looks great, very nice colours.
The hall of animals has worked really well. I will need to store that idea away for future.
