Chinese Buildings - Inspiration - references needed
« on: May 08, 2010, 12:06:56 PM »
Hi All, i am about to build several different types of Chinese buildings suitable for 28mm China 1930's. This will include rural buildings, rustic chinese town buildings and more formal european architecture. I have quite a bit of photographic reference now, but am lacking pictures of what the rear of chinese town buildings/shops look like. So any help? any particular references, or "i'd like one of these" requests. I'm guessing this will fall into the pulp genre as well?
Will need help with shop signs at some point as well.

A man after my own heart. I keep starting a similar project and getting sidetracked. My biggest problem is that I want to do a town/village suitable for as big a span of time as I can possibly manage.

I watched a lot of Chinese/Korean movies and took screen shots of the buildings - with the wife constantly pointing out that I must be insane everytime I paused the DVD player.

I will be very interested to see what a man of your undoubted talents comes up with and also what you are going to use them for.

In the spirit of the Nomonhan demo, i intend a chinese/japanese generic city assault ( shanghai/Nanjing, obviously one has more sinister connotations, hence "generic"). Most of the terrain will be bespoke, so i will need a rustic town element, some older rural settlement types, obligatory city wall, armoured train, landing barges, station and european quarter/bund, river etc. I'm digging through my korean movies as well, but just wondering if anyone has anything specific. fancy sharing the screen shots?
