I’ve made some little progress on the Staff Car… which is now at what I call the "crappy stage"… Most, if not all of what I paint seem to go thru this stage where I look at what I’ve done and say… D’oh!

I could show pictures of what I mean if you kindly ask ;)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

My minis go through that stage too.  Unfortunately, I'm often so discouraged by it that I fail to fight through to the lookin'-good-again stage.

I heretofor kindly ask.   :)

Since you kindly ask… and also because my Photobucket page is still open... lol

...and that's the reason why I have so many half painted figures lying around  ;D

You're right, it looks pretty weird, but I see signs of greatness.  :)

I'm surprised you didn't paint the tires first.  I'm not a fan of drybrushing, but I think that'll be the only and best way to do the tires.

I’ve put some thinking on how to proceed with the painting of the Staff Car and I think it could work well… but, so far, that’s still just a plan in my head…

So, for now, no more work on the Staff Car today… I decided to work on some of the figures instead. If everything goes according to plan, I would like to finish the 35 or so figures and light deck weapons plus the Staff Car by the end of next week (may 22nd).

I’ve been feeling kind of dizzy for a day or two now… I don’t really feel like painting so I’m beyond schedule now :(
… Hope I will feel better this weekend and be able to do some work >:(

Well, that might just be my body adjusting itself… I’ve gone to doing almost nothing physical to 3 hours of physical training and 6 hours of "entretient paysager" (gardening ???) per week.

since You asked

I find Your paintjobs very neat and accurate - almost a bit too neat  ;)
same with the weapons - they look unused. I would consider a bit of gunmetal highlighting

as to the car - excellent so far
the colour - the light blue is a bit greenish/turqoise and this colour-contrasts with the cobalt blue of the shading - the effect is pretty good and possibly intended, but the overall appearance should be more greyish light blue, if You want it to match the photograph. This is the case with the other paint schemes too, the colours are very clear. It looks good for me though if this is Your style

What are the car lights made of?

Thanks. With these figures, I've made an effort to add some shadings and highlights. I'm still experimenting and will try to be "less neat" on my next batch of figures (i.e.; not the ones I'm working on at the moment because I want them to fit with the 5 sets I've already done).

You're right, the color's a little off (although the photo did change the shade of the actual model a little). I think I will try to do a kind of light bleu-grey wash on the car... but first I need to do the detail works.

What are the car lights made of?

They are (or seem to be) made of cast metal too... the front grill is plastic though.

I’ve finished the painting on 18 figures today. Not bad me think
Now I need to focus on the British "rank and file" and decide how I would like the Deck Weapons to look once done 8)

… and add static grass on the figures bases … and finish that Staff Car … plenty of things to do yet :?

The tartan looks good; so does the Scotsman's checked hatband. I've got that same Sons of Empire set in the painting queue, I'm going to have to steal be inspired by your paintjob when they arrive on the painting table.

My only suggestion is to do a bit more on the stock of the Scot's shotgun, the brown looks too flat - a bit of highlighting or fake woodgrain then a brown ink wash gives a good varnished gunstock look.

The blue and red dress uniform on the far right looks great too - any chance of a closeup of him?

(I still think the Colonel in his mess formals is out of place, with the rest of the Sons in hunting/safari/field rig. He needs some companions in mess dress - Sons of Empire II, perhaps?)
