Traveller,

Are you talking about the 1861 Baltimore Riot? That is the one I am researching for. A ton of stuff on the web for that.  Now that I think about it...I probably need to document this for the Ezine.

If you are talking 1861, let me know and I will share the links.

The 1861 riot was one of the last of a string of Baltimore riots

The one I'm planning was in 1856, sometimes called the Know-Nothing Riot (after the political party). Through the 1850's there were lots of colorful actors -- gangs with names like Rip Raps, Plug Uglies, Regulators, Blood Tubs, Little Fellows, and Calithumpians who provided muscle for political parties -- Democrats, Know-Nothings, Americanists -- and were allied with rival fire companies; plus local police (mostly corrupt) and state militia. Baltimore had a history of riots and gang battles around elections.

Here's a short Wikipedia link and another to a newspaper account from the time:

Traveller, let me know if you would be interested in doing an article on the draft riots for the ACW Gamer Ezine.

Zeb, please let me know if you would like to do an article on the 1850s riots for my new upcoming Ezine about America's other wars.

Thanks!

ACW Gamer,

that would be fun but it has to wait until the project is finished with scenery etc and that will take some time  ;)

...and perrys do the figures:

'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

Joroas,

That is actually how my Baltimore project got launched.  I receive several packs of this figures as part of a larger trade!! I have half a dozen primed and in the batter's box.  (Unfortunately, my painting hands have ADD and I jump from project to project like the spark on a Jacob's Ladder).

Those are of course, figures for the 6th Mass in 1861.  They would be less appropriate for a Riot in July 1863 simply because of the overcoats.  I don't see why they couldn't work for Baltimore election riots!
