Earth Drill / Mole wanted for 25 to 28m miniatures
« on: May 13, 2010, 05:59:33 PM »
Hello Everybody,
I am looking for a model of an earth drill or mole for 25 to 28m miniatures. This does not need to be a full vehicle, just part of it emerging from the earth would be fine. Any sugestion on manufacturers and / or models is welcomed.

Go straight to Ramshackle games. They have a mole.....it might just be what you are looking for.

Here is the link with pictures:

Wasn't someone selling one in the Bazaar of Obscurities?

There's a nice one from Scheltrum, but it isn't boring. It is on land or in-situ.

Indeed, it's quite interesting.

Sorry [hangs head in shame].

There is also a mole/digger type toy in stores now from the recent GI Joe Movie that should be an easy conversion to a gaming piece.

I used the drill piece on the front on the GI Joe mole for LAF Rd 10

It's not coming out of the ground but it could easily be made to...
But for the price and for not having to convert or make your own, the Ramshackle mole is clearly the way to go

Mind this is worth the two pence offered but here goes:

For such a basic shape common to most drilling-boring designs, that being a cylinder with some sort of auger-tipped 'nose cone', I can see many easily had items to make such a machine from scratch.

A great place to start would be simply looking at the textured or often ridged-ripples plastic one (1) liter bottles that soda, tea and water are commonly packaged.  Right off, the twisted fluting on a Pepsi bottle might be a place to start.

Again, perhaps browse your local dollar-thrift store, especially in the kitchenware aisles as well as gardening-floral design supplies of a dedicated craft shop.

May sound like a bit of effort but trust me, a vehicle of your own design and construction brings not only comments-compliments but a sense of satisfaction to the builder.

Good Hunting !

One of the chaps over at TerraGenesis built one of these for his Ork army I believe, if I remember correctly he cut different sized wheels with 'teeth' going one way and the next slightly smaller wheel had the teeth going the other way. Like a series of circular sawa I suppose. It was very effective.

I can't find it at the moment though. If I work out where it is, I'll amend this post to show it...  :(
