A bunch of his 'Nam figures were in my latest mould, we went halves on the space. Don't ask me what they were, cos I am not sure. LRRPs I think..
The moulds been at Griffin for a week and Stu reckoned it would be about two till it's done.
I know Bobs keen to get this range rolling and he's been talking to me about resin casting a jeep and a helicopter.

Oooooh!  :-* Here's hoping it may be something else than a Huey (I would REALLY, REALLY want an HH-34), but I'd take one of those as well...

Those Ebob figures are rather tasty. Wonder if they will make Jim Hale and I happy by producing some 1965 era USMC with M-14s. I can see some of the LRRPs popping up in a Colombian setting.

I wouldn't bet against it! I always thought the M14 was a pretty cool-looking rifle and the Marines certainly had a big part to play in the war. I'd love to try a scaled-down version of a Khe Sanh type siege  :D

To which list I'll add a M38 Jeep and a M56 Scorpion SPAT... even some pre-1965 US Advisors and ARVN would also be gratefully received.

Somewhat off topic but the thing I would really love to see would be some Chinese for the 1960s and 1970s. There are plenty of North Vietnamese out there FoA, Westwind, Eureka, Baker Coy etc etc but some Chinese to fight them in 1979 would be lovely. With a little conversion or at least a suitable pack of heads Pathet Lao and Khmer Rouge could be fielded and of course you can use the Chinese against Indians and Russians to boot.

Company B might be the best people to approach for an M56 SPAT, they did an Ontos after all. IIRC there is an odd scaled old plastic kit out there from Monogram/Glencoe/Lindbergh/Revell something like 1/40 scale. Would make a useful reference for any would be sculptor.

Yes, the kit was 1/40 scale by Revell... which is no real use to anyone  :?

It used the same running gear as the Ontos and was only fielded by US Airborne troops in Brigade AT Companies (besides Spain and Morocco) afaik... but I want one (well maybe two).

I always did think the Sino-Indian War would make for an interesting game...
AFAIK the Chinese didn't change uniforms and equipment between the early 1960s and 1980s.
Also China was a major supplier of Cambodia, so from what I've seen it was pretty common for Khmer Rouge to wear Mao caps and Chinese webbing.
That really does give that idea a lot of scope!

Yes but wouldn't that only sell as a  matched pair? A 'not Elvis in Germany would require a  'not 15 year old girl' to go with it? Oh those Old Southern customs......

I have wondered whether Elvis, Jerry Lee and Chuck Berry ever compared musical notes while they waited for their significant others to come out of school...  :?

Anyway... I'd love to see some early special forces/raider types, with M3 Grease Guns and M1 Carbines etc. I'd like a range where the M16 isn't the primary armament.

t'would be nice.

Tell you what Jim, fter the nice man has finished the Portuguese and done my 1960s Brits,  how about we get him to make some early '60s US types with M14, M1 carbine etc? I'm in if you are. I know he's sculpting an M-14 for other purposes.

I'm committed for some Portuguese and opposition when they're done, so with them and the Mongrel Middle East figs I've recently ordered, the time line may be about right. We'll get our heads together and do it as a 100 club request maybe?
