...What's the platform in the middle for?...

Here in Toronto, the middle 'platform' usually holds steel support girders for the roof, as well as safety cages for trackwalkers who may be on patrol.

Or, maybe, to paraphrase Victor Borge's explanation for the three piano pedals, ''The one in the middle is to separate the other two''.  :D

We've got a center island like that in the station I use also. Aside from having pillars supporting the roof ours seems to serve no particular purpose.

Dammit.  You beat me to it.  This would be great for a Warriors type game.  Didn't someone on here do some Warriors gangs?
This is my boomstick!

How big is that board? 2' x 2'? I may have to shamelessly rob inspiration (aka 'wholesale') from you...

Damn, I just spent an hour wading through that site.  Nice find.

I spent several hours there yet. Most inspiring! YouŽll find abandoned NYC subway stations too if you google for "ghost stations"...

looks pretty cool and convincing to me.

What's the platform in the middle for?
And
have You considered stairways?

Really no reason for the middle, just though it should be there.  there will be stairs in the archways and am considering putting some on the other side maybe coming down from the sides.

Yes, it is 2' x 2', intended for .45 Adventure. Wholesale all you want.

Then youŽll love this site: http://underground-history.co.uk/front.php

Very cool.  And thanks for those pics Kid.

...The empty station pic was taken in the Toronto 'ghost' station, now used mainly for movie shoots...

Just as a coincidence...due to turnout repairs on the line, all east-west trains this long weekend will be rerouted through our ghost station! It's been closed since 1966.  Wonder if I can find an excuse to take a trip downtown over the next couple of days? 'Ghost' may also be literal in this case.  Apparently it's supposed to be haunted, as well as abandoned.

I love the LAF. Name another forum where people quote Victor Borge...
