ACW Second Battle of Manassas (pic heavy)
« on: 22 May 2010, 09:04:21 PM »
This weekend our gamesclub is running their annual `ACW Weekend`, and Second Manassas (aka, Second Bull Run) is the setting with over 3500 models on the table.

Pre game details can be read at http://www.americancivilwar.be/home_en.html

Myself is in command of the 5th Corps (Ambrose`s boys, at this battle under the command of JP Hatch and including the infamous Iron Brigade), who`s only action during day 1 is rolling low on the reinforcement table, so that I entered the field of battle at the start of the last turn for today.

Traditionally, day 1 is the position taking day, the main fight will be happening in all probability tomorrow...

Some pictures of day 1:

Holly Moley!

That is a HUGE table!  How do you move the troops in the center of the table?  Some sort of stick?

Impressive indeed... and the ACW flags hung up on the wall shows you all are a bunch of ACW nuts!  Super nuts if you were playing ACW music as well.

Excellent!

Yep, the music is there indeed  lol

The table splits down the middle and is mounted on wheels, so during `game time` we roll it open and people can move in between it in a central gangway.

And day 2 has been completed.  At current the Union holds 6 out of the 9 objective points, and a huge clusterbattle is in progress in the center (right of the key city of Groveton), being the make or brake point tomorrow for the difference of victory or draw (but the Dixiedaisies are out for the win at any rate).
All available army corps have now been deployed (and Kearny`s almost wiped out again), and the later arriving elite units are now filling in the gaps to make the push or keep the rout at bay.

Well...

That is pretty awesome...  :-*

Notice that the troops keep good and clear of the "center line."  Smart folks...  :D
