Any ideas for a 1920's Turkish armoured car?
« on: May 07, 2010, 11:15:39 PM »
Hi,

I have a small collection of Copplestone WWI British and Turks (or arguably 1920's) mainly for semi historical or BoB games (involving my Archaeologists).

I've got a Rolls Royce armoured car for the Brits but any ideas what the Turkish equivilent could be? As usual the 'web' has come up empty handed/screened.

Cheers

Most people scan 'Show unread posts since last visit' which doesn't filter out boards. It is not a big deal, but there is little need for double posting. Just a friendly hint. :)

One of the great things about this site, in fact. :)

Turks might have employed captured British gear, but automobiles woud be very hard to maintain, and trained drivers plus mechanics rather scarce. I have only one postcard from before 1920 which shows two officers in an auto with mounted machine gun, and it may well be an on-the-spot effort during one of the per-WWI CUP coups.  I also have a good shot of Ottoman crews with captured Lewis guns, an indication that your Rolls Royce is not impossible, just improbable.  I could not figure how to upload these images, but if you send me an email <jdunn (at) valdosta.edu>, I'll be happy to send them your way.
