That will certainly cut the paint time down by a huge amount and it'll look so much better for it  :)

You might want to head over to the FichtenFoo web site as the chap there (I'm assuming it's a bloke) has some absolutely wonderful models on show and if I remember correctly there is at least one airbrushing tutorial and plenty of inspiration shots of how to get the best from a flat surface.

You will spend all night till the next morning on there. I have done on numerous occasions  lol

cheers

James

So...

All the doors will be movable?   o_o

Not all the doors.
I didn’t want to take up to much room in the entrance area. So I though the sliding doors would be better. When I made the doors with two bits of plastic angle it just made sense not to actually glue the doors in place. So I ended up with working doors.
My take on why this bit is different is that this is just the crew area and not as well made as the paying passenger areas. Hence the thinner walls, not so decorative and sliding doors instead of proper normal doors.

As for no WC’s why do you think there are windows and I don’t know about rope over the side but definitely bums over the side lol
Wasn’t really a conscious decision not to include one we just picked what we thought would be useful in a game. Can’t think of a scenario were a toilet would be useful.  ;D

Heck, your crew (some of them, anyway) get actual cabins. With actual walls and actual bunks. Apparently most of the big real-world zepps had the crew on hammocks up above the gondola, in canvas-walled "rooms" in between the girders. There's a great photo from the Hindenberg of the crew quarters, but I can't find it currently online... I know I've seen it.

Maybe put canvas hammocks between the girders along parts of the overhead catwalk for the rest of the crew?

Have seen that photo.
There is a link to the site further back in the thread.
We have thought about that for the crew quarters and may do it else where further back in the hull.
As this is the entrance though I thought it would have to look a bit better than just canvas walls.

Foil? Could you make it anymore fragile for the 300+ mile journey to Twickers?  ;)
It's a good idea though and the paint job looks very good.
Don't!

The foil is glued on to the cardboard so not that!! fragile. (I hope)

I saw the carboard but was thinking more along the lines of something rubbing against the zep and tearing the foil. You 'll have to keep the gaming table free of sharps (and that includes Svennn's wit)  ;).

Done some more yesterday. The outside of my two sections are about ¾’s covered just the fiddly bits around the engines and the gun ports to do. Not much to see on the outside but I think a picture of the inside shows that it is starting to come together.

Some stuff was removed for this photo. Rooms, stairs and walkways that are made but not glued into position yet.

Been trying some more with the new airbrush. Trying to work out the paint scheme for the inside. Couple of pictures of my test piece. Ignore the bottom panel I had a bit of a problem with to much water in the paint at one point and I have yet to fix it. It is a bit raggedy around the edges but this is only a test piece the finished version will be better, I hope. :D

I now notice in the first picture there is some metalic over spray at various bit as well :'(  ignore those too.

Not sure the paint scheme works. The grey and the aluminium are to close in colour. Not enough contrast in the metal parts. Any ideas?

To be honest the subtle difference looks fine to me, would it have been like that in reality?

I'd say it looks good in the pictures, and the coated canvas cover would be rather close to aluminium, especially if it got a protective coating. I wouldn't worry too much about it, or you might try to "pre-shade" it, i.e. first spray a black layer around the beams, then spray grey onto the canvas and silver onto the beams, letting the dark shine through a bit by not getting a 100% paint cover.

I undercoated the whole thing in black. Do you think it would be better undercoating in a different colour, grey, and doing the pre-shading in black like you suggested?

It was just a suggestion, and given the size of the thing, probably not really feasible. You could, however, add some shadows with a thin black mix afterwards, rather than doing the preshading. In that case, you could restrict it to instantly visible spots.
