Summer toy fish on clearance: Battle Reef
« on: August 30, 2010, 03:05:15 PM »
Okay, first attempt to post an image from my gallery, (thanks, Prof!), so tongue lash away. How will I learn if you don't kill me?

Wait a minute...

I will try to put this in both VSF and Future Wars, where a discussion on submarine warfare mentioned Stingray terror fish. However, I promised a look to those tempted by the lovely, but dear, Fichtenfoo's Fantastic Fish-Shaped Submersible.

This battery-motorized item is a bit thin, less than five centimeters, and short, but a repaint and some domes over the eyes, and I think it could be quite serviceable. Also, I'm considering trying to grind down the upper lip and teeth. For VSF, you have to add your own rivets.

It's down to about $10US, which makes it worth a look.

For the metric challenged such as myself, this is about 7" long.

@gi6ers As I always like to say, breath holding is contraindicated. My projects often have lovely starts, and then languish, and before you say 'like everyone', I'm talking years to DECADES.

Besides, with batteries and turned on, if flops most convincingly on a table like a fish out of water. Some kids LOVE it, and if they don't, I do.

@Doomsdave Discount department store Target; I know it's national, but not everywhere. They're starting to clear out summer, especially pool, toys. If they go to $5US, I'll pick up several extra. ;->=

Change of season is the time of thriving bargain bin divers, you know...

Also, please note the fins are a soft plastic; if I do get extras to work on, they'll be the first parts to be tossed.
