Dreadlocks
« on: June 01, 2010, 01:17:29 PM »
I am looking for some firearm wielding dreadlocked 28mm figures. Preferably in pre 1930's outfits.  Any suggestions???? ???

That's a strange combination. Dreadlocks didn't really appear in Rastafari movement until in 1950s, and even then quite slowly. In Hinduism, they are mostly reserved for holy men so you won't find many firearm wielders there. Unless someone is making extremely weird pulp minis, you can try:

1) Foundry street violence "yardies" packs. They have entirely modern gear and guns, though.
2) Micro Art conversion heads on your favourite minis.

That's the best I can suggest.

Some of the Foundry Ruga-Ruga have braided hair that is quite similar in appearance to dreadlocks (the Ruga-Ruga are actually named for this hairstyle). You'd have to buy a bunch who don't to get the ones who do, though.

Their outfits are obviously tribal, I'm not sure whether that's what you had in mind by pre-1930s. Like Dolmot said, you probably aren't going to find anyone dressed in Western clothes with such hair at that time.

You could sculpt them. But I'm not sure how to. Whenever I try, it just looks silly.

Black Cat Bases makes a few female ones if that's any help. Look for the gypsy dancer and the bar wench.

Hammers

As always, a welcome and creative build.  I may run out of time to get these down for the summer, but they will happen!
