WIP Treasure Island Block House
« on: May 31, 2010, 10:45:04 AM »
Hi,

A quick run through of the build process for my new terrain piece for "Under The Black Flag" -

the basic shell of the building built with thin plywood walls and wooden skewers for the externals.

The skewers have been scored along their lengths with a hacksaw blade to give them a bark texture.

With the walls and roof completed I made the scenery base. A piece of shaped MDF and a lot of skewers cut and fixed to the base. A sheet of cork to make a small hill and some ready mixed filler to form the contours.

The rear view of the completed building just waiting to be painted.

Enjoy

This looks great.  :-*

I saw a picture of this in my son's Treasure Island book, one night while reading it to him, and thought at the time, that would make a great piece.

You have proven me right.

Really like how you overlapped the skewers.

Can't wait to see it painted.

Thanks,

My secret reaserch has been uncovered - my son has an illustrated Treasure Island Book and thats were I got the basic idea from  lol

The overlapping on the corners took a long time and a lot of filing but I'm pleased with the end result.

I have posted the painted piece over on the Swashbuckling Board as it is virtually finished.
