Perry Egyptians
« on: June 03, 2010, 08:10:58 PM »
Finally took some photos of my Perry Egyptians,

I like the infantry better than the cuirassiers.  The enlisted cuirassiers just sort of sit on the horses like lumps.  It's not the sculpting, but a sort of lack of action in the pose.  However, the cuirassier command figures are quite nice.

Infantry comand:  The close up photo makes it look as if he officer is rolling his eyes.

Another infantry command stand

Cuirassier officer, which I painted with lighter skin tones to suggest a foreign professional.  Again, perhaps the eyes need to be repainted.

Cuirassier trumpeter: much nicer than the 'other ranks.'  He has more life in his pose.

I think that’s a brilliant idea to paint the Cuirassier officer as an "European advisor" 8)

Nice work BTW
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

I'll have a rummage through my paints and make up a list.

OK,

Here goes.

For European flesh I start with a base coat of any 'Medium Flesh.'  Right now I'm using a cheap doll paint; Delta Ceramcoat, Medium Flesh # G101G074.  The secret is the next step a wash of Vallejo Light Brown #929.  Then a dry brush of what ever you used for the base coat.  Then a dry brush of the base coat, lightened with Vallejo Light Flesh #928.  Then paint the eyes.  Then outline the eyes with Vallejo Light Brown #929.  Then come back and highlight with a bit of thinned down Vallejo Light Flesh #928

For the Egyptian flesh I start with a base coast of a cheap doll paint, FolkArt #941 Acorn Brown.  Then a wash of another cheap doll paint, Apple Barrel Colors #20521 Nutmeg Brown.  Then a dry brush of the 941 Acorn Brown lightened with just a bit of what ever European Medium Flesh, in my case the Delta Ceramcoat Medium Flesh.  Then paint the eyes, then outline the eyes with the 20521 Nutmeg Brown.

And here's a link to the page on the club web site where we discussed shading various colors, including  flesh tones.

Hope that this  helps.
