Jedi Starfighter
« on: June 17, 2010, 07:55:09 PM »
My local Hobby Lobby store had a massive sale on plastic models.  These Revell Star Wars kits were $5.  They are snap together prepaint.  So I glued one together and weathered it.  It is a little smallish compared to the movie I think.  However the Astromech droid looks to be in the right scale for my figs.  You be the judge.  I'm going to ignore the size difference as I will use them more for scenic pieces (think hangar board) than for anything else.  Shown next to a PPP Star Wars CMG Obi-Wan for scale reference.  I like how the weathering came out and the whole thing took about 5 hours.  I've already gone back and bought the TIE Interceptor model and the yellow starfighter, will probably pick up the vader TIE as well.  I'll post pics of those when done.

Nice paintjob :-*

For me the Jedi-fighter looks right in scale, also compared to the Astromech.
I have the Revell X-Wing and the Tie Fighter Advanced (Vaders).

The X-Wing fits perfectly in (R2 is the same size as the one from SW Miniatures), Vaders is a little to big but ok.
I think the Y-Wing and the Slave 1 are also quite good.

Hope to see soon more of your fighters

Did you do the ones in the foil bags?  That's what this one is.  I'm anxious to know because the boxed ones don't show a scale and I was scared to take a chance on them.  I never saw the slave 1 :o  That would be interesting to see. You should ppost it.

I have the boxed ones.
To get the scale you have to compare the "real" size with the modells size, both are printed on the box.

Shame on me I didn't bought the Slave 1 ::)

If these are the Starwars Mini-Kits, the ones in the foil bag/printed box are the same.  I think they changed the packaging to remove waste.  here is a scale pic of the pod and the pilot that came with it...with a Grymn from Hasslefree for extra info:

...and an 'out of the box' pic to show the pre-painted quality of it (which isn't bad at all):

Yes.  That loks exactly the same as mine did out of the pack.  The bagged ones were cheaper out of the chute as well.  But I don't thinnk they did slave 1 in the foil pack.

A lifetime back, well ten years or so, Toys'R'Us clearance out all their Micro Machine Star Wars items, which included the grouped figure sets and the corresponding scale vehicles.

I bagged the figure sets for like a dollar and various vehicles for two dollars, likely never to see such prices again.

Must get some of those. I don't have any Star Wars minis, but at that price they would make be useful for other SF games  :D

Nice weathering.

I bought a SW transformer Jedi Starfighter from a *well known" auction site to use as a scenery piece.

A little larger - the astromech droid is *huge* - but for a similar price.
