The Italo-Turkish War
« on: June 15, 2010, 04:08:31 AM »
Ya think ya know a little history...

I just love small wars, as they often involve interesting armies, uniforms, tactics, etc.  But in this little conflict, I seem to have hit the jackpot.  Colorful Turkish and Italian uniforms, Bedouins fighting for the Turks, Mustafa Kemal in his initial rise to glory, the first use of armored cars in warfare, the first use of aircraft in warfare, and dirigibles bombing the enemy!  Good God, does it get any better?

Anybody got a book, a site, anything for this conflict?  My VSF explorers absolutely have to get involved in this one, and I don't care if it is ten years too late.  That's what all those time machines are for.

unfortunately most of the battles are like a trench warfare, too tedious, for me.
interesting are the encounters for the re-conquest of Libya, mostly in Fezzan area, use of mounted force(dromedary) and battle on open field.
anyway my opinion; many time though for this range but for the above mentioned reasons I gave up.

I have many books about including some published just after the war, altough old they are easily to find and cheap, well just a little problem ...for you  ;D, they are in Italian language. lol
