MajorSmith: The Rapier is a mixed resin and white metal kit for the advanced modeller, 1/76 scale, and is made by Kingfisher Miniatures.

YPU: Funny that you mention that, as the factory suffered a SS-21 strike during the game.

Wonderful modelling throughout. Now repeat the entire exercise in 28mm :D

Actually, I'm going to repeat the entire excercise again in 20mm, but this time with a Russian 1944 Tank batallion plus support assets, and in 6 months instead of 2 years  :D

This an your Cold War game thread are both truly awesome. Are the tanks and other vehicles plastic kits or resin "wargames" models?

Calimero, they are plastic as well as resin and metal kits, the Leopards, Biber and Landrovers being plastic, and all other vehicles resin with metal bits added (or in the case for the YPR's, imported brass barrels)

No cheating then! No Italeri or HaT quickie kits, no Dragon or Hobby Master pre-paints and all gun barrels to be in drawn brass with the correct rifling.  lol

Once again many thanks for putting all of this on display, it's a marvelous thread, makes me green with envy reagding the modelling skills and it also makes me wonder why I departed from the one true scale. :(

Great stuff; the amount and quality are just mind-boggling!! What brand are the YPR's?

The YPR's are S&S Models > http://www.sandsmodels.com/

They have been remoddeld now, with better trackwork. I have not bought those, yet.

Ressurection of the undead.

Before I tackle the infantry I want to do some vehicles to get back on the horse so to speak. This seems like a nice starter, as it means I add more Reservists and 2nd line stuff to my army, as well as backdating it to as far as 1960.

Also,

After having discarded the F-16 as being too late for this army, I went looking tonight for airsupport. Back then, we used the small and nimble NF-5 and the speedy F-104G. Well, good luck trying to find a NF-5 with Dutch decals on Ebay. Even the after market ones seemed all dried up. No luck there then. So, what about the F-104G? Well, plenty of those online, including a not too old Italeri rerelease of the old Esci kit, and this includes Dutch decals, of my favorite Dutch squadron, 322 Polly Grey (with a history spanning back to WW2). So a quick scan of the prices made me buy one in the Uk that was dirt cheap (cheaper then anything in the stores here) and included shipping.

So in the future Robs G-for-Germany will get a Dutch friend. Not airbrushed though.
