Game Board
« on: June 18, 2010, 11:06:22 AM »
Okay i mentioned in another post about the board we are using at the moment.

Its 3x3 in size and the covering is some old Carpet, its very hard wearing very dense weave so none of it is getting off, plus easy to clean of stuff as you run the hoover over it and your sorted :D

Sorry for the rubbish piccies taken on my phone.

I don't know where i got the card building from, its one of those you build but its not a world works one as far as i know.  I plan on redoing it on better card and maybe through the laser printer so that it looks good.

Close up of the carpet stuff.

Simple, yet effective. I’m looking to something similar for a gaming table in my new apartment… if I have the space… :D

Looks great.  I have a 3x3 Zuzzy Mat which I love and swear by but what you have looks just as practical and functional.

I didn't realize that house was a card one till you pointed it out.

I like the large trees too.  Did you make them and if so how?

One thing you can do to make the paper building look better, is to 'edge' it with a dark brown or black marker along all the exposed edges. You'll be surprised what such a simple thing does to a paper model.

I like the carpet... needle felt or something like that? (a real pain to vac when used on the floor, but pretty effective for gaming)

Nope the carpet is flooring carpet like they use in offices and such so its really ahrd wearing but doesn't shed like flock :D

The Trees are armatures done by woodland scenics they covered in tacky glue and flocked, then more added to get the shape.  I saw some done recently with that whispy style of cotton wool you see at halloween, then sprayed with hairspray and flocked looked amazing.

Yeah we made this one a long time ago now so its a bit battered in the background you can see some more card scenary done by Worldworks i've black edged that takes a few hours to do but like you've said makes a huge difference in how it looks.

@Mike, we ahve a lot of scenary between use, resina nd stuff we've built so it would all weigh a huge amount.  I reackon we could easyly fill a double garage with it all, it fills two rooms as is and is ever expanding.

Hey thanks for showing that!

I've been working on a village dock board that is 2' x 2'... while that's getting done I still get some games in with something less work intensive  8)

Have you taken any pics of games in progress?

Pics of games as we go, not as yet mainly down to the fact that we are using a mix of mini's till some more turn up.

There GW ones so won't look right to be honest.  My Character was sterling in the game last night if it wasn't for him and a good dose of .45 action my group would of all gone out.

Very simple and effective - and a lot easier to move around than my two foam boards  :)
