What rules do you guys use?
Do you make up your own?
Do you modify existing WWII or other rules?
Do you use points based?
And in the fury of this darkest hour
We will be the light
You've asked me for my sacrifice
And I am Winter born

A variation of BOF, But I do like a variation of War Hammer rules too.
Best wishes,
Helen

It all depends on what we're trying to get out of the scenario.  It usually involves adapting something else, as for some unknown reason we never seem to use a ruleset for it's intended purpose.

For sneaking, spies and sneaking type games we use Amazing War Stories, from Rattrap.

For a more heroic 'war movie' action type game we use Legends of the Old West, from Warhammer Historical.

Recently we've been playing 5150, a scifi game from Two Hour Wargames and are looking to pick up the WWII variant Nuts!  This gives us a more realistic and gritty action game.

Has anyone tried "Panzerfauste" from Wessex Games ?

They're not a bad little skirmish set.

I haven't actually played any WeirdWar stuff yet , although I have been looking at available rule sets.

Amazing War Stories is ideal for skirmishing and is probably my first choice.

Savage Worlds Showdown is easy to use for any genre, and again is ideal for skirmishing.

Verdammnis is a set of free ( always a good thing!) weirdwar rules for use with DevilDog Designs "Dogs of War". The rules and a lite version of Dogs of War ( all you need to play) can be found here:
http://verdammnis.free.fr/rules.htm

Westwind are doing a complete new rule set for the Secrets of the Third Reich. They will be releasing play test material soon. This will cover larger actions so their mechs can be used aswell!

Almost any existing WW2 rule-set can be tweaked for weird war ( I've got Crossfire and Rapid fire which shouldn't be too hard)

Using Savageworlds rules as I am running it as a role play game (ish - sort of)

I use Amazing War Stories, but then I wrote them so it wouldn't do for me to use someone else's.

That's right Rich - if you don't stand up for your own work, who else will? How can your customer have confidence in you?

In the same light, I use Astounding Tales!  Churchill recommends them, I'll have you know.

I'm not sure Big Louie Churchill from da Bronx is such a glowing recommendation, however, he will break your kneecaps if you don't play.

You can't go past NUTS! for great WW2 skirmish rules. Super fast and able to accomodate small or large skirmishes, with lots of colourful rules but still keeping a good standard of realism. I particularly like the flexibility - house rules and addons are so easy to slot in. Once I get some WWW2 happening I'll have to pop my rules up. The game has more of a focus on HOW combat happens as opposed to WHAT variant of the Nagant one happens to be using at the time under the specified weather conditions during the action in question at the correct time of day ;)

Rich, you may disparage Big Louie Churchill (from a distance, I note!) but you and I know full well that you are too scared to use the endorsements of Fat Pete Hitler of Passaic and Jimmy "Tap Shoes" Mussolini of Jersey City. Both say great things about "Amazing War Stories", and yet you distance yourself from their views.

Admittedly, Fat Pete seemed to like the Nazi zombies rather more than a regular person might --
