28mm Police Decals?
« on: June 29, 2010, 06:44:17 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has a need of these sort of decals.  I have a number of new WW2 sets going to print, but I have a lot of space on the sheets left over.

I'm thinking a generic Police sheet for both vehicles and police figs (add to riot shields and armor/sleeve patches), One small set for SWAT, and a few sets for international units.  UK police markings, Germany, etc.

I'm thinking for vehicles, these are more for converting toy vans, etc and not necessarily police cars. (I have a 1/56 M113 painted blue that can use some Police markings..hence, this is really a ploy for me to get free decals :D )

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Thanks for any input.

print your own... piece of cake...

if you want white writing, you'll need white decal paper and you' just have to have a suitable background colour (but you can paint up to that after the fact)... also make sure you get the right paper for the right printer... the wrong stuff is fatal to your printer...

Would have been EXTREMELY useful a few years ago when I was painting my Old Crow Future Wars security police vehicle fleet... I had to make a stencil saying 'Police' and use crappy WH40K badges...

So I think there would be a market for these.

I agree with Capt. Blööd on this.

I'm currently have an APC on my work desk which is being turned into a space police vehicle for no reason whatsoever.

I do think a logo or badge would be handy next to it though.

Hmmm, something like this?  If I do a badge, I can have that printed on Gold metallic.  It's possible to do small ones for figures as well.

Expand the set to include 'POLICIA' and a vehicle set reading 'BOPE' and I might be interested.

Hey Carlos, I watched a Four Corners Program on Monday night set in Brazil main drug problem area with the three main characters being an Inspector of police, Drug Warlord an a Priest. Guess who lost?

Cheers,

Helen

This one? http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/content/2010/s2936999.htm.

Hmm. I found that remarkably shallow, sad to say.  Foreign film maker discovers there is a drug war going on in Rio. If you want to see a much better documentary, albeit somewhat dated try looking for Katia Lundt's  Notícias de uma Guerra Particular (News from a Personal War). I think it has been bundled with some of the DVD versions of Cidade de Deus/ City of God.

Guess who lost?
Goes without saying that the people who lose are the people that have to live alongside the traficantes. As it happens my wife's favourite aunt lives in Acari next to one of the comunidades featured in that film. I've stayed there with her. She's a retired dressmaker. It's really irritating when you hear these f*#kers say, 'oh I'm doing this for my family, I have no choice'. My brother in law who earns salario minimo and works like a dog in a laundry has  the same choices. Friends who lead honest lives in worse favelas than those, all have a choice and they've chosen not to be drug dealers. It makes me really angry these days.

For the record the state and municipal authorities in Rio have made major efforts over the past year, particularly in the comunidades in Zona Sul by installing police posts (UPPs) where previously there was no permanent police presence. It's having a good effect reducing crime levels and it's being rolled out across the city. I just wish they would do something like that in Salvador, where the crime rates have rocketed up. Even the dickhead mayor has been forced to admit it.

Sorry for the rant. The film crew for a recent doco were soliciting for free accomodation and contacts on another forum I post on, may even have been the same crowd.  Seems every half bright gringo director or photojournalsit wants to repeat the same half-baked, inch deep coverage cos Rio is getting the Olympics. Bizarrely enough  you also get all the adventure tourists, wanting to do favela tours in Rio, where they get jeeped in like in a safari park. Obscene.

And this project continues to evolve...

Ok, here's what I have now:

The yellow colors would be printed in metallic gold.  And the first sheet has badges scaled for 28mm figures, etc.

I can imagine having another sheet that has markings for several international SWAT style forces.  The Brazilian BOPE being one of them...
