Please note: No green skin in sight!!!!

Very nice PM! And I like the lack of green. They look like dead corpses.  :)

It was midnight...an eerie calm settled over the ruins of what had been Stalingrad city.  Private Ivan Ivanovitch took a last pull of his cigarette and lay down to sleep.  He noticed a sudden movement out the corner of his eye..."Halt!  Who goes there!"...his buddy cocked his rifle.  Where once the street was littered with Nazi corpses, field grey forms now rose slowly through the mist ... The Nazis were back!  Not alive, but in undead form seeking live flesh...

Thanks for the comments! :)

I'm actually finding it quite difficult to get the uniforms to look right. I'm not normally a WW2 gamer and had no idea of the vast number of variations of uniform. I've bought a few books and it seems that designs changed all the time!
I suppose as it's "pulp" it doesn't matter that much. Don't even get me started on vehicles! I've got a couple of books on armour and the designs change almost as much!

Not to mention what the process of dying and being re-animated would do the the colour of the uniforms! I wouldn't sweat the accuracy man, these figs look fantastic! I find it a funny phenomenon with fatnasy/sci-fi types (including myself). I mean, we are fine with dead people coming back as zombies, but we can't deal with a German uniform that is two shades too light ;)

Great job! Looking forward to more pics of you stuff :)

Well, obviously the undead are allowed to wear a selection of old and outdated uniforms. We'd be concerned if they wore the new regulation kit!

No, part of the way that 'historical fantasy' works is that 90% of the setting has to be correct. The other 10% can be radically fictional. But the precise accuracy of the main part is crucial to establishing your credibility as creator.

I believe this is true for other eras as well. I recently  spent some time researching Queen Victoria's Highland holidays for a book which features automatons, mad science inventions and monkeys with their own canoes. But I wanted to get a correct feel for the 'The Queen meets Angus the automaton' scene.
I do all my own stunts

Ah, I see what you are saying. I agree, there is definitely a difference between historical fantasy and pure fantasy...  That being said, none of my figs are painted with all that much consideration for historical perfection, so I guess I should work on my historical historical stuff :)

In any case, I still think that the path from life, to death, to undeath would likely have a big impact on a zombie's uniform colour scheme :)

Of course, burial in a mass grave followed by some sort of unholy revival into undeath will mess up a man's uniform.

Everyone knows that.

Who says it is unholy? Maybe they just have a different deity?

Yes, that's quite possible.

For instance, I am a Presbyterian and I have seen very few zombies in the pews. Our dead stay dead.

Indeed, some of them appear dead during services.
