Digits I thought that too, but Ian if you have some Federales in 28mm
I might be interested. My Federales  (Converted Franco-Prussian war Foundry)
were done by Garry & look small next to my Banditos/Revolutionaries.

‘Twas an old post.....10 years old....

Ok, so playing cowboys again, I’m of a mind to do a few new builds, but I thought I’d lost my cowboy bits box.....which I just found! Huzzah!

But, despite it being full of bison, Indians, more cowboys, civilians, six more Dixon cows (must add to stampede), priests, children, a penny farthing and clutter......I seem to be almost out of windows!  Bought loads of these from AT terrain years ago....don’t do them anymore, so I think I may need to make a cast of these last few.  So now to find my casting materials.......don’t ever move house guys!

So, been having a rummage and prepping a few bits.

As it happens, I have three wagons to paint....started all three last night.  The third is a a large flatbed (think Boer war) loaded with supplies for wat will be my mine head when I build it.  Talking of which, I have zeroed in on a design and bought a flywheel for it.  More on that later...

I have decided I want a new “professional looking gang” so I will be painting up my Knuckleduster Clint and Angel eyes, along with a few choice minis that are going to look the business.

And then, we need more civilians.

I noticed that apart from the little girl with the cat, I have no kids.  Rectifying it right now.  I have a pair of kids from a Reaper and a pack of Victorian kids from vampire wars....a couple of which are useful.

I have a few more shop keepers to paint, and best of all, a mariachi band.

So, plenty to go at....

And the reason for all this........”GOLD!

Yup, until now, Vulture Creek has been a relatively quiet town.  Trace amounts of gold dust have in fact been panned from the Creek itself.  One or two die hard prospectors though believed the source may have been the nearby Jingler Hills though many dismissed this as pure fantasy......until that is, “Lanky” Peterson, dug a nugget straight out of the rock the size of his left nut!

The word gets out quickly, and before long, Vulture Creek starts to attract a lot of attention.

Homesteaders and simple folk looking to share in the opportunities such a discovery offers

Merchants looking to provide all the building materials needed to feed the boom

And the bigger mining companies, looking to monopolise the veins.

Pictured here, one of the carts used to haul supplies from VC up to the mine head.  Old Bob Harper can’t sit in a saddle these days what with his piles an’ all.  He’s kinda hoping his wife doesn’t notice he’s liberated her favourite sewing chair, but it does make for a mighty comfortable ride!

Yup word of the strike has spread.
My contribution, first the two new miners & mules,
then my complete set of miners & mules.
Last is what is likely to happen, a lot!

Garry would simply shoot the horses & wait for the guards to surrender for water.

All together now!

“Ay, ay, ay, ay,
Canta y no llores,
Porque cantando se alegran,
cielito lindo, los corazones”

With the residents of VC having coin in their pockets, others come to help relieve them of it.  Always wanted a mariachi band......nice addition to the growing civilian population.

Boot hill Minis, next on the to buy list, their civilian Mexican men and women.

And the first of the kids.  Pa should know better than to leave his sawn off on the table...
