Mexican Army Helmets
« on: 06 July 2010, 12:04:31 AM »
Does anyone know what style of helmet Mexican troops wore in the 1920s?
I tracked down one picture from 1940 with an Adrian helmet and another picture that's earlier but is kind of fuzzy.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

If they wore them at all  I suspect they would have been Adrians. This site has some useful info on various tin hats with a couple of photos of Mexican Adrians.

The same helmet website shows a Mexican soldier wearing a Stalhelm circa 1926. I think that they might have initially gone for a German feel (as can be seen during the Mexican revolution, with all those advisors) and then went with the French helmets due to supply and following the fashion of the victors. That's just speculation, mind you.

Mexican uniforms went for an American look after the revolution, with the exception of the helmet which was a copy of the Adrian or Mo.26 as they called it. I've seen a few photos of this, along with the US style sidecap, but never a German style one, other than the one on the site.
