FW Biohazard Doors
« on: July 07, 2010, 01:09:06 PM »
In case anyone's missed this over at Copplestone Castings, looks like Mark has a couple of nice looking "Biohazard Doors" added to his scenics for Future Wars:

Never seen them before, so I think you're right :)
One day, we all hope that Mark ends this accessory-thingy and starts producing minis again (or at least, re-casts of all the OOP-stuff).

For some reason I haven't been able to access the Copplestone site for about 6 months now.
Internet explorer always closes down whenever I go anywhere near Copplestone Castings.

Anyone else get this problem ?

Average to be honest, main door is very badly constructed, not his best. Fenris's range of resin scenery is much tidier in my humble opinion.

I too wish that Mark would sculpt some more troopers and such like, wasted opportunity here.

I actually contacted Copplestones about whether or not any new Future Wars figures would be coming down the line anytime soon, and this is the reply I got.

 Hi,
I love your line of miniatures, but was just wondering if you had any plans to release a new batch of Future Wars figures, as these are my favorites on your site.
Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam

I keep thinking about it - and an extension into the further future I`d call Future Wars X - but I`ve not been sculpting much recently so I can`t promise.  If I make anything a few more wasteland types are the most likely.

Mark Copplestone

Take that for what it is, but it doesn't soon too promising for a lot of figures anytime soon.

Fingers crossed for that "Future Wars X" thing, though.  The Future Wars military types are superb, paint-friendly sculpts, but they look a bit dated now.  They obviously draw on Aliens, which in turn drew on Vietnam; but in some respects, such as the rigidity of the body armour, their equipment looks less advanced than what NATO countries use now.
Back from the dead, almost.

The fact that he said 'wasteland types' being most likely does certainly intrigue me.

I have all of the earlier Grenadier troopers and Copplestone's current ones and the older ones are more heavy on the Colonial Marines bits with the shoulder pads, neck guard, the grenade straps, occasional shoulder lamp type object and the assault cannons' being more obviously 'inspired'.

I don't think NATO has composite armour with an ablative coating and crotch-guards, or shoulder and leg armour made of the same material though. :P

They're nice generic sci-fi military, and not current standards sci-fi so of course they'll look a tad dated. Plus, kevlar can't stand up to phased plasma pulse, explosive-tipped ammunition like solid composite armour can anyhoo. lol

Maybe if enough people be selfish turds and pester him he'll collapse under the pressure... >:D

Yeah agreed, definately the time for a little focussed pestering, some more future wars troopers in a colonial marine vein would be so well timed and so well received.
