This is great news! Doing a bunch of new characters a few weeks ago involved flipping through three binders, some random paper, and a lot of muttering of, "Which damn book was that character type in again?".

One volume and some streamlining is exactly what 45A needs.

While you're at it, steal some of Astounding Tales! skills, especially the Good Girl/Bad Girl female skills, they make for fun pulpy female characters! Howard freely admits to cribbing from 45A for chunks of the recent 2nd ed of AT!, so turnabout is surely fair play!  lol

Adding a bunch of new skills. I'm excited about a couple of them. Also, Grade 3 models will have the ability to take Heroic Abilities which go above and beyond normal Special Abilities.

Some time this week, I will be posting some of the quick combat rules along with some characters from the demo games so people can try things out and leave their comments.

That sounds like it will be a great addition! It will certainly separate the heroes from the lower grades!

In fact everything you seems to have teased us with (quicker combat, lower G1's) can only help improve the game!

I can't wait until December - but in the mean time can we still expect a the next issue of TEQ soon?

Can't wait for it!

I cannot express enough how much .45 has opened my eyes to tabletop gaming. 2nd ed is bound to be great.

Good news Rich

Like so many others I find it a bit of a hassle going from one set to another looking for a rule or character that I know is in there somewhere.
Just a thought - any chance of some more pulp-type characters from across the other side of the pond, eg the good ol' English Bobby armed with his trusty truncheon and whistle and little Belgian detectives?
I don\'t know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

Grimm: I am not changing the initiative system, however, it should move faster as Grade 1 squads activate together. At the convention this weekend I had each player with a Grade 3 and 3-4 Grade 1s. And, with teaching the rules and playing the game, the players were able to cover 3 levels of the museum and defeat the Hybrid High Priest and prevent the world from ending.

The Grade 1s all activating together as a unit at the end of the turn, meant that players were able to keep things moving along swiftly.

Need to add this to my Xmas list
Will be good to have all the rules in one place.
Keep up the good work Richard.

I'm trying GM.  :D

And if you are interested in seeing some of the changes, check out the Speakeasy forum where I have begun detailing some of them. So far I have covered combat and Hero Points.

Nor can I - oh well, with all the other stuff I've got to do they'll be out soon enough to put on the Pacific Island scenario I've been working on for some time in our 2011 games schedule.

I hate making people wait, but I really think it will be worth it. The rules are going to be tighter and cleaner and it should make for some great games.

And if you have specific questions, feel free to ask away. I'm happy to share what I can.

Just saw the Action Preview on the Speakeasy and have a question about the jump action.

http://www.rattrapproductions.com/speakeasy/viewtopic.php?t=2338

Say a character has a  SPD of 5.  Would he move 0" - 2.5" then jump equal to his Brawn or does he have to move 2.5 - 5" in order to jump the full brawn distance.

Good question.

The model has to move a Min. of 1" but no more than half its move. So a model with a Speed 5 would have to move between 1" and 2.5" in order to jump it's Brawn score.

Okay, thanks.  I guess I was thinking the intent was to move at least half but it seems pretty much as written.  Sorry to second-guess.  :D
