interesting stuff!

Useful for inspiration, but fortunately i decided to build a different colony rather than attempt to copy hadleys hope, for several crucial reasons....

1) Hadleys Hope needs a whole load of gaffer tape, and a fresh lick of paint, after the atmosphere processor went nuclear....

2) I've got a few ideas i want to incorporate into the design, to enhance gameplay

3) Some rivet counter would get upset i'd "done it wrong"...  ;D

4) Some of the graphic novels have some interesting ideas that a different facility could include, for additional scenarios.

 ;)

Very handy indeed, thanks for that, especially the plan of the complex, cant work out how the Airducts system relates to the overview of the complex though? I need a closer look me thinks. Ive got a rough idea of the internal layout that Im going to run with but would be keen to hear your plans on the design Akula

Wow. Great find Anpu. Those are exterior blueprints I haven't seen yet. The most accurate so far from what I see. Unfortunately for everyone, there's discrepancies between the interior and exterior layouts as seen in the movie and the displays in Operations. Some liberties must be made to accommodate the differences. Here's a site with a 3D rendered model of LV426 which might be useful. The site also has a card model of the North Lock block and the landing grid.

Here's a pic of the render:

Commander, the plans you posted don't relate at all to the interior of LV426 which I take is what you are looking for.  I like that it includes the air ducts system that I haven't been able to resolve yet in a playable way. Yes, I'm also working on Hadley's Hope in 28mm and haven't seen any interior blueprints that were somewhat accurate. If you need I can post my notes/plans for the interior of the 'operations' block that I'm using. The operations block would be about 22 inches wide and about 30 long by my calcs.

My base will be on 12 2'x2' square boards - 2 of the boards will be to do with a landing zone for ships, between 5 and 7 will be the facility itself. A couple more will be link boards - tunnels, walkways and the like....and then there will be the "processor"

As it's a shake and bake colony Matt, I expect that the modula design will be replicated and revisited on many many colony worlds. Still to work out what I'm doing re: gaming table as yet but images like this help to inspire I hope.

Oh and if you need gaffa tape Wayland Yutani do that too! ;)

Those blueprints make the colony look a lot smaller than what I always envisioned in the movie, maybe its just me.

Dont forget when you build the colony to put in the bar and casino (you can just make out the neon signs in a few frames of the movie)

Here are my interior plans/notes for the 2nd level of the Operations block of Hadley's Hope (LV426) as accurate as I could recreate from the information in the movie, so it concentrates on the main hallway, operations and medlab. I think these are fairly accurate with allowances made in the plans for game play; mainly by allowing room for 25mm bases so figures can move around. So any discrepancies are my fault.. please let me know of any glaring errors.  Thanks. Somewhere I have less detailed notes for Operations level 1, sub basement, the flooded level and North Block which I'll post when I locate them...lost in my workspace somewhere. :(

Things still missing or questionable: The air ducts which I'm leaning towards representing for gameplay as a separate, thin (1cm thick) level between the 1st and 2nd level. I would just represent the access points. How to represent alien movement in the ceiling and under the floor. Where are the elevators/ stairs to the second level? I'd expect them to be near the main South entrance as they are for the North block entrance but that is not the case and not seen in the movie. Where is the medical section proper as opposed to the medical laboratory seen in the movie?  What is SEC and the Airlock on the second level as seen on the floorplan display in operations?

Enjoy

Brazz, like the sketch of your plan of Operations etc, will definately use some of the scale when I re-create it. Going to use the Worldworks stuff for 2D floorplans with varios bits and bobs like tables etc for the raised area. Interesting to see how your plans compared with my initial layout, guess Im going to have to take another look at the film. Two observations I have made though, thought that there were 2 main doors for Medical? In terms of Alien movement, why dont you mark some random points on a paper plan tha corrospond with your final layout and just roll for random/sequential appearance like in the Leading Edge Games?

Just checked out Akula's project, think my efforts will be quite feebel in comparision!

I'll temporarily be a 'rivet counter' and say that it was Hudson who died in Operations and not Hicks, Braz. But not to worry, I won't eat ya' for such a trivial mistake, Gorman got it wrong too, so's it's canon. lol

Bako , I didn't know the xenomorphs counted rivets. ;) You so got me there I feel like Hudson at the end...just a chestburster to look forward to now. :o

Gunnermax2. Good idea about the paper map with fixed points marked but I want the aliens player to have some control. Maybe designate a location and use a hit/deviation die? Have a greater chance of appearing where you want for each turn you delay. Food for thought.

As for the second door to Medical from Operations, my bad. It's on the map but I didn't label it. It's the door symbol between "Octagon Archway" and "Air Duct Access"  on the right side of the map.

Ah, but your life guarantees that the hive shall thrive. You've done a good job of being the cartographer of detailed colony interiors however, so no worries here. ;)

Also, have you seen some of the 'walkthrough' videos Jan Rükr has made of his little colony model? Very good for perspective shots and such. I believe he has a YouTube account which would be where you can find the videos.
