Django and his coffin of Chaos!
« on: July 12, 2010, 05:58:53 AM »
Hey guys, looking to convert a 28mm Django, any suggestions for a good starting mini? 28mm of course, need a long coat, scarf and pistol, the coffin I'm sure I will have to build.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

I'm not to familiar with Django, but the Wyrd Miniatures Malifaux Death Marshals seem ideal for your purposes:

For the film, hare a look here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060315/

i have not seen the film, but all the still photographs i see show Franco Nero in a Union cavalry hat and a long Union blue duster.  so for the miniature you seek, perhaps someone's American Civil War range (there are lots from which to choose!).  the coffin: i agree with previous post and a Malifaux Death Marshal may supply the coffin of worthy note.  i was going to suggest painting a Death Marshal in Union Blue, but they look to fantastical and odd clothing to pass.  but i shall allow you to judge yourself.

i have also just found that the coffins are available alone http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16238&cat=263&page=1 - so if you opt not to use a Death Marshal, you can still get a coffin or two!

i am sure others will agree however: we wish to see pictures of what you have as a final piece.

Hirst arts do a rather nice mould that includes a coffin

http://www.hirstarts.com/grave/grave.html

A bit  more expensive then buying a single figure but it does give you the option of casting as many coffins as you will ever need.
Integrity is non negotiable

Dixon Miniatures makes a coffin with a removable lid.
For Django I'd be tempted to use one of these. Maybe the far left or center figure

Your post really inspired me! I got myself a nice Reaper coffin, but where to find a mini in a US Cavalry coat?:

Is it a French Mitrailleuse he has in the coffin?

Brilliant - I remember buying two Django films years ago on video - Django Kill and I forget the other title (maybe it was just Django?!). Might have to rewatch them now - love that bright red theatrical blood!  ::)

Wasn't there some sadistic Mexican colonel type in one of the films - he'd make a great opponent for a little skirmish...

I have only seen the first one. A bit dated but I like it. The machine gun in the coffin is so cool  ;D. Is there a summary of all the films somewhere? I have a feeling that they would make good scenario material.

Depends whether you want Franco Nero starring as Django or not - he did 2 as far as I could tell but there were over 30 other spaghetti westerns that used the name Django because it was so popular apparently!

Yeah, I have had no luck in finding a suitable mini, I am just thinking of breaking down and using an Artizan mini that has no coat  :'(.

we must never give up our search for the perfect mini! I planned actually to make two, one dragging the coffin and one armed with the mitrailleuse. Foundry have some ACW in overcoat and kepi. A headswap could give them the right hat. A marching pose with rifle on the shoulder could be converted to the dragging pose and an advancing one for the other pose. The pain is just to buy an expensive Foundry pack for just one figure...

Which Foundry pack? Gimme a little hope, cause I can use the Artizan head that I like!
