Combat Zone Project
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:48:40 PM »
Hello everyone!

Hoping this is the best place for this, I've decided to give Combat Zone a try and I've also decided to try and do it as a project from start to finish, rather than my normal from start to ... oh look different shiney thing  ::)

So I've got the first part of my Combat Zone Chronicle up on my website.
Along with the first two terrain articles:

Making simple ruins

and Making Corrugated Iron Fences

Hoping to get articles on the miniatures I'm using up next and then will finish with a battle report complete with pictures and a write up of the game.

Cheers

Looking great.

In a nutshell, what is Combat Zone all about?  How many models to a side?  Dice rolling?  I've been the their site hundreds of times, but I only drool over the models and terrain in the 'chronicles'.

Sci-Fi Skirmish game. Two to three squads per side. Four to five miniatures per squad.
Simple rules based around action points. Not played it yet but apparently very dealy. Hence fast playing  :D

In a nutshell, what is Combat Zone all about?

Simple rules for hot action 8)

How many models to a side?
About 10-20 for a small game, can be smaller or larger if you please.

Dice rolling?
D6's to hit for shooting, in close combat and for damage you roll a selection of D4's, D6's and D8's.

I really enjoy the rules and played a my first game since very long last week, it was simple but still a lot of carnage and a lot of fun! 8)
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins

And CZ would be usable for many types of genres'?  Zombies, Aliens?  Looks pretty damn cool.

You can use it just for all!!
I use it for Gang wars included Predators, hunting for trophys,Resident evil scenarios
with lurkers and mutants,Werwolf and vampire hunting what you want!
My Corporate Troops are 4 tactical,2 heavy support,2 clone sqads ,special forces and a tunnelrat team for hunting scavengers in the sewers.Including rules for sentry guns ,spidermines, cyborgs, terminator, robots and many other fine thins to make some trouble on the table!
Lot of fun!!!!

The rules are pretty simple, but from my reading of them (haven't had a chance to play yet!) cover just about everything you might need.

I love the feel of the setting - the whole corporate wars thing - and you could do a lot worse than check out Pil's stuff. He's far too modest - check out this thread, for example:

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=14361.msg169057#msg169057

When you can build/convert/paint models and vehicles like this to use in the game, why wouldn't you play? Must dig out my rules again - oh, there's one other thing in its favour. The EM-4 minis are very nice, they often come cleaned and primed and ready to paint, and they're very inexpensive. Excellent.

Excellent - be sure to post up a battle report (which, it is generally agreed, should always contain lots of pictures!)
