Suggestions for a 15mm Ogryn Sergeant?
« on: July 17, 2010, 03:50:10 PM »

Here is an Ogryn Sergeant for 40K.  If anyone needs to be refreshed, the figure leads a squad of ordinary ogres (armed with clubs, etc., as they're too stupid to fight with anything else), but he has intelligence enhancing treatments that make him -barely- smart enough to lead the rest and fire a big shotgun.

Anyway, I'm looking for something similar for 15mm.  I'd like a big, dumb looking, musclebound figure (maybe a human or ork in 25-28mm?) that would work as an Ogryn Sergeant in 15mm.

Any suggestions?

Regards

If you're happy to do a bit of converting, the 15mm ogres by Blood Dawn figures (sold in the UK by Magister Militum) might be a good start.

See:-

I don\'t know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

The GZG alien merc pack always seemed like a good approximation to me, but you get a lot more than just one guy with it.

Don't know what size you're aiming at, but if a little on the tall side is no problem, why not try getting your hands on some of the old style Necromunda Goliaths? They even have suitably bulky looking guns and look overly muscular enough to assume they're just a sip of Red Bull away from a full blown roid rage rampage.

Just shave those hideous mohawks... ;)

Thanks for the ideas so far.

The ogres I already have, in 15mm scale are about 1" tall, or so, so I think that a dumb, musclebound 25/28mm scale guy might be ideal.

I'm kinda saddened that no one has seen my 15mm 40K stuff before now.  I posted a link to it before, and it got all of one reply.

I've been thinking about 15mm Inquisitor or =I=munda - should be interesting converting 15mm figures  to make arco-flaggellants, mutants, inquisitors, etc.

Start with Laserburn and Hordes of the Future (both from Alternative Armies).  For the price of a single 54mm scale Inquisitor figure, you will have all you could ever need, including a goodly number of alien bounty hunter types.

Arco-flagellants would be tough, but some of these might make nice "blanks" to start work, though.

Hi I’ve been lurking on this site for ages admiring all the stuff you guys do. Finally decided to lurk no more.

Anyway it looks to me like you could probably use a GW plastic Ork and simply convert its head. Give it a nose and trim down the ears and you have a 15mm sized Ogryn. I’ll give it a go tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

What you're all forgetting is the difference in 15mm and 28mm is not just up in height but out!

I've just got some 15mm stuff from citical mass games and the difference between the scales is suprising! 28mm ork would look like a giant as would an necromunda plastic.

I was going to suggest GZG, nice clean sculpts and Jon's a good egg.

Yeah :(  The kid who did the photos is an art student, and I let her have a little too much free reign.

OK I had a go at making one tonight. All I did was give it a nose and I re-sculpted its ears. I based it on a 30mm base as the 25mm base made it look like a standard 28mm figure. (edit: I also made the shoulder armour from scraps of plasticard).

Pictured with 15mm GZG figures so you can compare the size.

I plan on adding some Imperial Guard grenades and pouches at a later date.
