Good tonal range, and very crisp sculpts

Thanks!  I'm waiting on some casting to arrive from England and I'll begin work on some BUF figures.

This is LPL round-winner quality. I really want those Bofors guns and that command group from Empress. The do so look the business.

Absolutely superb, Killshot! The black on the BUF is really well done. What paints did you use (for both the uniforms and the belts)?

Really really good.

Thanks everyone!

Adam:  for the clothes I used Vallejo dark gray and for extreme highlights dark gray mixed with neutral gray.  The belts are black mixed with shadow gray and then just shadow gray (boots and shoes too).

Thanks very much, that's very helpful. After watching 'The King's Speech' the other day, I'm really getting the urge to start VBCW. I've got so many other things on the go at once though, but most of the VBCw game reports I've seen have a couple dozen or so men a side, so it might well make a nice break from what I'll be mostly painting over the next few months. If I do decide to take the plunge, then you're partly responsible with these inspiring photos, Killshot.

They are, as Hammers says, quite excellent. Personally I might have done a little less white and perhaps the puttees in khaki. Your masterful shading of the uniforms and kit means that it is far less necessary to bring a colour contrast into the figures to make them stand out... but that is just my taste, rather than any criticism of the quality of the painting. Well done!

I finished these up a while ago, but just got the digital camera back.   :)

First are some Militia figures, not sure of the manufacturer of these:

More Parish of St. Martin reinforcements (Carlist figures from Empress Miniatures).  I know not everyone is a fan of using these Spanish Civil War figures for the British Civil War, but these represent Spanish Immigrants from the Island of Jersey and support the Anglican League:

I've included a little more analysis on my blog, but this is the gist of it here.  You are more than welcome to follow my blog, I plan on getting it rolling better with more WIP shots in the near future and I'll continue to post finished products on the forum.

Beuatifully painted figures - which figure manufacturer(s) are responsible for the command group?
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

Thanks!  :)  They're also from Empress Miniatures, the Republican Command Group:  http://www.empressminiatures.com/userimages/procart23.htm
