Looking For Rules
« on: July 23, 2010, 10:01:41 AM »
Hey guys

I'm looking for some Rules for pulp fiction/ science fiction/ zombies/ aliens/ adventures / weird science...

example of scenaio:
Adventure Of Professor Alt.

1st starts out as a victorian where the Professor goes to the desert and looks for a specific dinosaur
in a cave, and comes upon the cave where there is a temple
that leads to a different planet which also brings you to a different era and aliens are there
wondering why you are there and the Professor has to find his way back to the cave eventually to find that specific dinosaur

Looking for rules that has alot of vsf, pulp, and other era light weapons and heavy weapons...
that also has rules for the 'characters' and zombies in case I want to stick them in
and also has all kinds of vehicles.
Also has science fiction or futuristic rules that can be added to this.

thanks

Savage world showdown, its free it has its unit builder system and it has example weapons vehicles and unit for everything you want. Did I mention it is free?

The only thing it does not come with specifically are scenario's, but it sounds like you have more then enough idea's for that yourself!

2 Hour Wargames have sets of rules covering all the stuff you mention. They all have the same basic engine and bits from each game can easily be combined. They are great as solo, 2 or multi-player games and can be played as "straight" wargames or with a strong RPG element included.

Not free, but reasonably priced and available in PDF format for downloading.

For a taster of the rules systems, you can download the full version of Chain Reaction 3 ("present day" setting) for free here:

Fear and Faith or Flying Lead from Ganesha Games might work for you. Fear and Faith are horror rules and zombies are included.  Flying Lead is a gun combat system that you can tweak to fit almost anything.  THey are coming out with suppliments for it as well, one of which is pulp.
