Regarding Pinned status
« on: July 24, 2010, 09:44:19 PM »
A few questions about suppression, pinning and morale checks that came up after last nights game:

Unit A has more suppression markers than figures and makes its morale save. On its next activation it plays a Recover Action. Is the unit required to make a morale check before activating in order to perform the Recover action?

How do vehicles that are moving play a Voluntary Recover action? Can they do so while maintaining a constant speed or must they slow down and/or stop before they can make perform the Voluntary Recovery?

When a vehicle receives a crew hit we've assumed you work the hit out by rolling a D6 like any other hit on a figure. Is this correct?

Do vehicles take extra suppression from Machine gun fire like infantry?

Do vehicle crew make a morale check when the number of suppression markers is higher than the crew total?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi,

hope you had a nice game last night.

Thanks for your questions.

1. The rules are on page 17 of the 2nd printing of the basic rules.
Unpinned units  have to make a score check. If successful remove all markers.
If not action is wasted and you have to keep your markers.

Pinned units that fail the morale check flee immediately to the next table edge.
( 6 + 2d6 full move ) and has to test morale again on next activation. Keep markers.

In both cases you dont have to check if you can activate the unit due to its status.

I havent done the morale and vehicles section very detailed. Sorry for that.

1. vehicle must not stop to perform a recovery action.
2. If the damage result just says crew hit roll on the damage table for foot soldiers with a d6
3. The crew should if the damage is a crew hit.
4. Yes, and they should bail out when they fail.

Thanks for the very good questions. Will definitely work on the morale rules for vehicles and crew. Thanks for your help mate.

Cheers
Björn

Thanks very much. We've been having a lot of fun with the rules.

Our assumptions during the game are pretty spot on with your comments with the exception that if a vehicle crew failed morale it only bails if the vehicle no can no longer move faster than they can run.

We are running a Second American Civil War campaign. I posted our latest after action report in the Interwar board.
