WOW, 48 of 'em !  That's a certain purchase for me.  I'll start saving the $200.

They look excellent.  Any new on expected availability?

If these are the same figures they were previewing last year, they'll be 32mm.  Interesting they decided to go ahead with the whole line, as the negative reaction was fairly extreme.  Mind you, that had a great deal to do with the choice to package two figures in an enormous box at $12.95, so this approach should be more palatable to both players and retailers.

Do wish they were going to sell unpainted metal as well though.  It's not as though it'd be a new area for them (Anima Tactics are metal), but I suppose they're primarily targeting the boardgame crowd rather than hobbyists.  Alas for those of us that are both!

Interesting, I had thought the line was canceled as well.  $3.99 a pop is better than $12.95 for two figures.  Still I would have liked if they either offered the miniatures unpainted for lower price, a full set with some extra cards thrown in it.

Badly painted plastic for $4.00?
There doesn't seem to be anything here that isn't already covered in many metal lines for less outlay. I don't see the appeal.

An interesting idea - A lot of the models look oddly-proportioned with tiny pea heads, however...

I havent seen them on display at the Event center yet, Chick. Best guess by asking the guys at FFG was they should all be released by Christmas and releasing 8 at a time for four months.

I too would have prefferred unpainted metals (as I am sure most of us here would since this is a hobby site) but considering what you get for the price, it isnt that bad. Hell, anima tactics models typically go for $10 a piece and while much better sculpts, they are still unpainted.

If I get them I am most assuredly repainting them as well. But considering the price I dont think its a horrible deal. Lots of unpainted models go for that much or more so its the best of both worlds if you prefer not to paint.

to me they look a bit weird, isn't?  ???
The style makes me think in miniatures for railway modelism.
mm... probably weird is no the right word.

Pretty poor do, really. There's maybe half a dozen that I'd pick up if I saw them cheap at a show, but it'd be to repaint myself. And a fair few of them look like they've been used as dog chews.

Think I'd still rather get Artizan metals for £2 a fig.

Other than they look similar to the Game art.  But I agree, 4 bucks is insane.  To each their own, however.

Agreed. If any boardgamer asks me about Arkham miniatures, I'll say they should:

1. Buy ~100 pots of paint, brushes etc.
2. Practise painting for some five years.
3. Spend a few weeks browsing through several obscure garage stores with pulp ranges.
4. Pay for the minis and multiple international shipping batches. Half of them come only in multi-packs with unrelated minis.
5. Clean the casts.
6. Convert a couple of totally unavailable models using putty.
7. Build uniform bases.
8. Undercoat, paint and varnish for heavy duty gaming.
9. All done!

That's less than ten steps. Certainly beats buying a pre-painted, accurate Arkham character for $4.  ::)

OK, seriously. My set should be ready this week. It took roughly a year among other projects, although it only contains the standard set characters without expansions. Surely a fun and challenging project for a serious lead collector, but the point is that serious lead collectors (with this much free hobby time) form less than 1% of FFG's target audience. This forum is probably not the place to get a representative sample of AH players.
